Db recruiting confuses me... never thought we could offer both, but I'm not complaining
National Director of Scouting & Recruiting Analyst
I'll stick to my theory that Akina and Mack realized that the window was closing on M.Smith. He wasn't gonna wait forever...at least not without some certainty that he would get an offer eventually. He's just too good to be forced to wait. Maybe A.Davis too (i don't know) but I think Davis would've been more patient, based on his own comments.
If there is enough film / video, junior season scouting, references from HS coaches, and camp / combine info to offer all the guys that we already have committed for 2013, than why force guys like Smith and Davis to wait for some in-person visit from Akina to pass judgement? What makes them so different?
Glad this situation is resolved.
With Davis' offer list its very surprising that he is a 3 star ranked 88....I wonder if that has something to do with his injury last fall....If so, I would think he is a sure fire to move up...Mods do you agree?
Also, while you are at it, could you say whether you believe Davis could pass Smith in the rankings?
And for those wondering why I care? I just do, I am a recruiting junkie.
So what are these kids waiting for? It's time for more commits.
Now this is all interesting...Color me confused but here goes...
Bell is offered a few weeks ago and attends the Spring game...
Harris from Florida has an offer...
Davis has now been offered...
Smith has now been offered...
It appears the staff is reaching out to make Cole Luke's offer official...
If all the above is true then they are going heavy on DB's this year and next as they expect to have attrition via normal circumstances and to the NFL the next 2 years...Chances are we only get 1 of the 3 OOS kids...
Wow, it's hard to grasp this development...Not saying its bad because it's great but if we got 3 and then Prevot commits, we would be at 17. I just don't see how we can go higher than 20 this year but you guys chime in while I go sit on a bar stool and have a beer...
Davis is a freak, athletically speaking. He just needs to stay healthy. Both these guys are underrated by the recruit nicks.
