6-foot-4, 255-pound former UH player Zeke Riser.
“I wouldn’t go to any place that I wasn’t expecting to compete for a starting spot,” Riser said. “I’ve never sat on the bench in my life and I don’t plan to at Texas. I’m definitely going to be fighting for a starting spot and at the very least in the playing rotation. I’m not coming to Texas just because it’s a big name. I’m coming to Texas to play.”

Yeah, he was tweeting stuff all last week, and I think Eric Nahlin mentioned he was coming. Will he just have 1 year of eligibility left? I know he started at UH as a fish, so he's seen PT.
Signatures are stupid. You should block them.
Looks like he'll be eligible to play in 2013 since he graduated in December.
This has been out there for some time. Question is whether he'll be anything more than depth.

The UH website shows that he had 4 sacks, 11 TFL, and 38 total tackles last year.
Don't expect he'll see big minutes, but always good to add some experienced depth.
Nice to have a walkon with that type of experience, love for UT, and competitive spirit. The guy looks like he'd kick you in the nuts for telling him "good job."
Chronicle had an article about a month ago and it was a thread on here.
Career stats (in 3 sesaons) of 38 tackles and 4 sacks.
For sure. He's not your standard walk-on and will definitely give Texas more depth at the position. Can't beat that.

Those stats are for 2012-13... not "career stats"
He had 36 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks, and a FR during his true freshmen season and made the C-USA All-Freshman Defense.
He's no Trey Holtz, but for depth he'll do.
He has 38 career solo tackles per his bio on University of Houston which is where my number came from. I did short him 4 sacks though...see link.
Here is his career:
38 solo tackles 45 assisted tackles 8 sacks 20 TFL 1 forced fumble 2 fumble recoveries and 6 passes defended
So, will that give us Reed, Wilson, and Riser on the Strongside and Jeffcoat, Davis, Bluiett, and Cottrell and the Weakside?
I was pretty worried about depth at DE, but now we have 3 seniors and 2 other guys with significant experience returning. Riser may give Bluiett and Cottrell a chance to grow another year and solidify the position in 2014 when we lose Jeffcoat, Wilson, and Riser.
Nice add! Looking forward to seeing this guy get after it....
