Pretty strong l-r wind as we get going.
Thornhill Ks the first two UCSB batters and gets the third to fly to right.
The righty looking very good early on.
Bottom 1st: 0-0
Man, I hate it when the time changes.
How about that? Leadoff homer for Ben Johnson. Opposite field shot that just cleared the wall in front of the American-Statesman billboard.
Me too, especially when you lose an hour of sleep.
Can I just go ahead and call my shot for a sweep today?
Stell strikes out after Johnson's homer, but the Weiss Payton combo reach to give Texas two runners on with one out and yesterday's hero coming to the plate.
Guys going down to the Gauchos bullpen. Vasquez not looking good at all.
Hit Hinojosa (also hit Weiss and walked Payton) to load the bases.
Montalbano hits a sac fly to right to score Weiss then Carter flies to center to end the inning. Horns strand two, but score two to take the early lead.
Top 2nd: 2-0 Texas
This one has the feel of a beatdown early.
Well, looks like I may have jinxed Texas and Thornhill.
After an impressive first inning Thornhill has allowed three hits and hit a batter here in the second. Texas' 2-0 lead being threatened with the bases loaded and two outs.
Disaster averted with a grounder to second.
Bottom 2nd: 2-0 Texas
Four free passes given up by Vasquez - 2 HBP, 2 BB - after a leadoff walk to McElroy.
i like this lineup...Felts just stinks at the plate right now and despite Hall's solid start I think Johnson has big potential
Sac bunt from Marlow breaks Augie's no early bunting rule. Moves McElroy to third after a wild pitch from Vasquez.
One out and a runner on third.
Johnson is a freshman correct? I could really see him and Hall alternating at that 1 spot in the order this year. Really have been impressed with Hall this year and ability to draw walks and get on base and use his speed.
This guy can't throw a strike and Augie gives up an out for 90'. Just stupid.
Here comes the pitching change. Really bad showing from Vasquez. 3 BB, 2 HBP, HR
RHP Kenny Chapman coming in.
Man on 2nd and no outs, Augie goes small ball and they don't score.
Ben Johnson gets picked off at first and Taylor Stell lines out to short to end the Texas threat in the second. Another opportunity with RISP goes by.
Top 3rd: 2-0 Texas
Yeah. You've got to make him pitch. He was giving free bases left and right.
Top of the UCSB lineup goes in order for the second time today. Thornhill gets strikeout No. 3 of the day in the process.
Bottom 3rd: 2-0 Texas
Two more free bases to start the 3rd makes seven on the day.
Weiss at second (BB), Payton at first (HBP) with no outs for Hinojosa.
Weiss and Payton both score to push the Texas lead to four. Hinojosa with the first RBI, then inexplicably tried to push a single into a double when he had no chance, then Montalbano gets his first RBI of the season with a grounder to short.

McElroy lets the ball play him at first for the day's first error. A two-bagger to the first Gaucho batter of the 4th.
