Dave did you give any advice to Augie tonight?
BTW what is the weather like tonight at the Disch?
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Cool and windy as usual in these early weeks of the season.
Looking like Weiss at 3B is becoming more and more regular.
News Release Walla:
I think Felts has to get untracked at the plate for the Horns to become a better offensive team.
Yeah, just pinned a thread on that. Tough break. Heard he had his chances, though.
Great play by Marlow on a tough grounder up the middle to get the first out of the game.
And another nice play by French for out No. 2. Great start by the Horns in the field.
French gives up a five-pitch walk and a single to give UCSB a little two-out rally, but then induces a grounder to first to end the inning. No hard hit balls, all but one kept in the infield.
Bottom 1st: 0-0
The walk to Brandon Trinkwon was just the third of the season allowed by French.
Interesting. Really did something significant.
"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Texas batting. 2 Out.
Weiss Grnds out. 3 Out.
1-2-3 for Texas in the first. Three ground balls.
As much as the Horns have struggled against good pitchers this season so far they may find it tough to get anything going against Pettibone tonight. Solid.
Top 2nd: 0-0
Lead off, LF Swenson, out. 1 Out
3B Maris, 2nd out. 2 Out
DH Winterburn, 3rd Out.
1-2-3 inning for French, including his first K of the day - 15th of the season.
Bottom 2nd: 0-0
Payton up. BH. 1 On.
CJ out. 1 Out.
Good play by the UCSB third baseman to end the inning for Texas. Payton stranded at second.
Top 3rd: 0-0
Quick half inning for UCSB. French gets three grounders to keep things scoreless.
Bottom 3rd: 0-0
McElroy, Marlow --Out. 2 Out.
Payton the only Horn to record a hit after one full run through the lineup.
Hall gets a base hit with two outs in the bottom of the third but tries to push it into two and doesn't make it.
Top 4th: 0-0
Cruising along. French allows another hit but the runner can't advance past first. Pitcher's duel at the Disch tonight.
Bottom 4th: 0-0
