He can't keep throwing him out there. I mean there has to be someone that can hit in his place... Right?
Stop blaming the bats. There are a myriad of teams that are hitting much better than Texas because they recruit good players and develop them.
Quick name the last position player drafted in the 1st round that played for Augie at Texas?
Ty Culbreth now coming in for Cox after a one-out walk.
The problem would be solved with Stell if we would move Johnson to LF instead of having him at DH and have Moynihan at DH, because Moynihan is way more productive then Stell.
Chad Hollingsworth coming in. Not many guys left in unis out in the Texas bullpen.
Johnny All Staff going for the Horns today.
One thing we know about Augie if they don't produce they will find a seat on the bench. Following Texas over the years Augie will find a solution to the offensive issues. He likes to play mind games and much of the hitting issues are mental. That last AB by Stell is an example.............over-anxious and swings at the first pitch. I wish Augie had taken one of his famous offensive time outs in that spot.............
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Hollingsworth gets a pop fly to center to end the inning. Headed to the bottom of the 8th the Longhorns will have the Weiss, Payton, Hinojosa combo coming to the plate to try to erase Tech's two-run lead.
Bottom 8th: 4-2 Tech
I agree. In the games I've seen Johnson is not yet a great outfielder. But you could definitely live with him in left to get another bat in the lineup. I don't know much about Moynihan as a fielder -- where can he play, if anywhere?
I have no clue where Moynihan would play, but it would be best to leave him at DH. Can't remember a game where he has played in the field. I think also we got to figure out something to do with Brooks Marlow. Hasn't batted well at all, could i guess move Weiss back to 2nd and have Silver go to 3rd. Don't know how that would work though since Marlow and Weiss have been playing well in their positions in the field.
Hinojosa has not been good the last two games. Combined 0-7 after that strikeout.
Horns with two on and two out with Marlow drawing a walk after Hinojosa struck out.
McCrummen pitching for Tech now. Drozd with a really strong showing for six innings.
Felts stikes out in a crucial two out situation with runners on 1st and 2nd.
Huge out on the Felts K to end the inning.
Texas will be down at least two in the bottom of the ninth with Carter, Hall and Johnson (8, 9, 1) due up. Could be a worse three, though. Those guys are 4-for-6 with 2R and a homer today.
Top 9th: 4-2 Tech

1-2-3 inning in the top of the 9th sets the stage for the Longhorns needing two to send it to extras or three to win.
Bottom 9th: 4-2 Tech
Did John Curtiss have tommy John surgery?
Great play by the Tech shortstop and the first baseman to get Hall out on a grounder. Two gone and nobody on for the Longhorns. Not looking good.
I think so. RS'ing this year.
Dirty pitch from McCrummen buckles Johnson for strike three.
Horns score a total of four runs in three games against the Red Raiders this weekend.
FINAL: Texas Tech 4, Texas 2
This team will be lucky to make a regional.
Too many holes in the lineup to score enough to help out a great but not elite pitching staff.
What are the chances that Hinojosa, Weiss & Payton leave after this year? If so, can you imagine how awful that team would be batting?

And it wasn't Tech's pitching, its our pitiful hitting.
if a team that has a sub 3 era cannot make a regional then i will be shocked....probably never happened before in a power conference. Not that the big12 is power baseball right now.
Now can we start bitching about the bunting????
You will find as the season goes on it is about 50/50 Don't be fooled Tech has an excellent pitching coach and some good arms. They are better than we thought coming into the weekend. However our approach at he plate with men in scoring position all weekend was terrible.............
Texas hasn't played anyone that great offensively either. There is only 1 guy on this staff that has Top 2 Round MLB type stuff. Only have 2 guys on the staff averaging more than a K per inning with Urban only having 5 IP. It's not elite by any means.
Texas is 4-5 against power conference teams so far and those teams aren't really anything special(25-19, .568 winning PCT) combined record outside of the games with Texas.
