5 Stranded (Gm)
"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Marlow shows why Garrido wants him there and Weiss at third with a great sliding grab towards second and a throw across his body to get the runner at first to end the inning.
Peters with two swinging Ks in the 6th, giving him four on the day.
Bottom 6th: 1-1
Masek 91 pitches, 54 Strikes
Horns go down quickly with a couple grounders and a bad swing by Carter for strike three, out three.
Only one hit for either team since the first and each team has only put the ball out of the infield four times so far today.

Erich & Brooks are showing they want 3rd & 2nd
Great play by Texas to get the runner at home on a potential game-tying single for Tech.
A single up the middle by Proudfoot gave Eric Guiterrez an opportunity to score from second, but Hall hit Hinojosa at the cut off and Hinojosa delivered a strike to Marlow at the plate to make the tag for the third out of the inning. Great defense today by Texas.
Bottom 7th: 1-1
Montalbano Sgl. 1 On. Gottsacker PR.
Augie Ball coming.
Marlow to Bunt
Tech returns the favor with a beautifully turned 4-6-3 double play to clear the bases for Weston Hall.
This team just can't hit good pitching. Does not bode well for anything that is to come...
Failure to get the bunt down by Marlow....................I bet Marlow isn't in the lineup tomorrow. Augie didn't look happy in the dugout .............
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
The double play helps Moreno get through the 7th facing just three Horns. Texas put its fifth ball in the outfield with a base hit from Montalbano (who was pinch run for by Gottsacker, so Felts will be playing from here on out at catcher), but once again couldn't make anything of it.
Top 8th: 1-1
We are by far the worst team at capitalizing on getting the 1st runner on in the inning.
Marlow & Duke warming up
Anybody know............it looks like Felts calls the game when he is catching. However when Montalbano is behind the plate it appears Skip Johnson is calling the pitches.................
BTW I really like the fire Peters and French show while they are on the mound..........its not quite cocky but on the edge. I think the team feeds off their fire............
Two more Ks in the 8th give Peters a career high of 7 on the day.
Bottom 8th: 1-1
With Montalbano being a freshman that's not really surprising IMO.
The prefer Felts in the lineup, but his bat obviously hasn't been there lately.
Opportunity here with a one-out single by Weiss.
Payton and Hinojosa coming up for a chance to take the lead here in the 8th.
Felts hit .280+ last year..............the last half of the year he and Weiss were the 2 best offensive players (last season) However his body language now at the plate is just terrible.
Payton pops out to short and Hinojosa ground out to third ends the opportunity for Texas.
Looking an awful lot like extras heading into the 9th.
Top 9th: 1-1
One out double to right by Bryant Burleson gives Tech a runner in scoring position.
Gutierrez and Poteete (Friday night's hero) coming up.
Skip coming to the mound.
Looks like it's going to be Knebel coming in with 1 out and the bases loaded here in the top of the 9th.
Should have got Peters out when Burleson doubled. Instead we leave him in until the bases are loaded. Knebel coming in.
Corey needs the K here or the Horns have a great shot at starting Big 12 play 0-2
Coming into this Knebel has allowed all five inherited runners to score. He's getting three today. Let's see if he can end the trend.
Big strikeout for out No. 2 of the inning. Takes the sacrifice out.
