Top 7th: Poteete solo home run to right
The Longhorns look to extend their winning streak to a season long six games tonight in their Big 12 opener against Texas Tech.
Texas won five straight earlier this year before dropping four in a row - including a sweep by Stanford - and are now back on another five-game winning entering Big 12 play.
Texas Tech: RHP Dominic Moreno (1-1, 4.79)
Texas: RHP Parker French (3-1, 1.59)

Moreno 6th in the Big 12 with 24 Ks in four appearances (28.1 IP)
Beautiful evening for baseball.
First Tech batter makes French work before grounding to the pitcher and then French gets the No. 2 batter looking and the third on a grounder to first. Easy peasy for Texas to start it off.
Bottom 1st: 0-0
Good crowd out tonight. Could be the biggest this year so far.
Horns get their leadoff man on when Hall got plunked in the back, but a line out by Stell and grounders by Weiss and Payton leave him stranded and keep the game scoreless.
Top 2nd: 0-0
Tech gets its first ball out of the infield - a fly ball to center - French Ks another looking and gets another grounder back to him to go six up, six down through two.
Bottom 2nd: 0-0
Ben Johnson gets the first hit of the day with a one-out single to center.
Felts and Carter coming up.
Aaaand Felts hits in to a 5-4-3 DP to end the inning. Felts now 8-for-45 for a .178 average, the lowest of Texas' regular starters.
Top 3rd: 0-0
Nine up, nine down for Parker French after three.
After going through the Tech order once, French has allowed only one ball out of the infield - a fly to center - has struck out two and induced five ground ball outs. That is a picture perfect nine ABs for French.
Bottom 3rd: 0-0
Moreno's second HBP puts Texas' leadoff man on for the second time in three innings.
Don't see why Montalbano didn't get the start. Hope he starts tomorrow.
Looks like best crowd of the year.........

Breezing through innings at The Disch tonight. Horns again can't capitalize on their leadoff batter being given first base. Texas has stranded a runner in each of the first three innings.
Top 4th: 0-0
The perfect game and no-hitter go out the window for French on consecutive batters with a four-pitch walk followed up by a single to right.
Two on, two out in the top of the 4th.

Bases loaded after another four-pitch walk.
Gotta think Augie's going to look his way one of these days if Felts can't get it figured out at the plate.
French gets out of the jam with a grounder to third.
Things were looking great for the Texas pitcher with two Ks to start the inning (bringing his season total to 21), but then he had a hard time locating to the next three batters to put himself in a bind. No damage done, though, as we move to the bottom of the 4th.
Bottom 4th: 0-0
The pitcher's duel continues as Texas goes 1-2-3 for the first time tonight. Weiss Ks, Payton grounds out and Hinojosa's shot to left is right at the fielder. The good news is the Longhorns didn't strand a base runner that inning.
Top 5th: 0-0
Felts actually had a good night at the plate on Tuesday..............
Tech definitely seeing French better the second time through the order. Red Raider leadoff hitter hits a well-hit single to center.
A great play at short by Hinojsa on the next pitch clears the bases though with a 6-3 DP.
Another ground out moves us right along to the bottom of the 5th. We're really moving tonight with two quality pitchers on the mound.
Bottom 5th: 0-0
Yikes. Felts just looked real bad on that last K. Totally lost on that last pitch. Looked like he had zero confidence.
Johnson pop up to 2nd, strikeout by Felts and ground out by Carter. Texas has sent just two more than the minimum to the plate so far. Tech has sent three more than the minimum.
Top 6th: 0-0
