Longhorns looking to keep things rolling after taking two of three from Minnesota over the weekend. Texas State (9-14) coming in having won two straight series - Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and New Mexico State. However they had lost five in a row - Oregon and Oregon State - before that.

Texas: RHP Chad Hollingsworth (3-1, 3.86 ERA -- 9 apps, 18.2 IP, 11 SO)

Two fly balls to left to start the game for Thornhill. Beautiful day at The Disch.
10-pitch first inning for Thornhill after Mattlage works a full count. Grounder to second makes it a 1-2-3 inning to start things off.
Bottom 1st: 0-0
Augie calls for the sacrifice after Johnson gets on base with a leadoff single. Runner on 2nd with one out.
Horns on the board with an Erich Weiss base hit past the shortstop. Johnson able to score from 2nd.
Payton single to center extends hit streak to 13 games to put runners on the corners with 2 outs.
Hinojosa flies to left and sacrifices Weiss home from third.
Longhorns getting out to an early lead on Texas State. Silver smacks a double to center to score Payton, making it 3-0 Texas in the bottom of the first.
Marlow pops out to center to end the inning. Horns get a comfortable lead though out of the gate.
Top 2nd: 3-0 Texas
Three ground-ball outs in the top of the 2nd for Thornhill. 19 pitches through two innings for the Texas junior by my unofficial count.
Johnson gets his second hit of the day - a double down the left field line - but the other three Longhorns grounded out for a quick inning in the bottom of the 2nd.
Top 3rd: 3-0 Texas
What's Johnson's AVG? Dang
Texas State gets two back with when the No. 9 hitter, J.D. Stinnet, draws a two-out walk, followed by a single to left and a two-RBI double to right. Thornhill was cruising along until the three-batter stretch after getting his eighth straight out to start the game.
Bottom 3rd: 3-2 Texas
Seven of last eight Texas batters have been retired after putting up a 3-spot in the first inning.
Weiss, Payton and Hinojosa all go down by way of ground out in the 3rd.
Kirby Bellow coming in to pitch for the Longhorns.
Top 4th: 3-2 Texas
3IP, 2H, 2ER, 1BB, 1SO
Texas State ties the ball game in the top of the 4th with an unearned run. Bellow hit the first batter he faced, then allowed a hit to put runners on 1st and 2nd. A fielder's choice moved the lead runner to third, and he later scored when Bellow botched the throw to first when checking the runner.
Bottom 4th: 3-3
Another leadoff hitter aboard for Texas (walk to Silver) and another sac bunt to move him over. Augie going back to his roots today.
Runner on 2nd with 1 out.
Make it 10 of 12 after Texas does nothing with a leadoff walk to Alex Silver in the 4th.
Cameron Cox coming in to pitch now for Texas.
Top 5th: 3-3
1IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 1 SO -- 18 pitches
Great play at short by Hinojosa saves a run in the top of the 5th. Texas State had a runner on third with one out and Hinojosa fielded a grounder and slung a strike to Felts at home to get the tag and out No. 2. Cox came back with a strikeout to end the frame.
Bottom 5th: 3-3
Wow! WTF was that?
Horrible base running by Weston Hall to end the 5th for the Horns. The center fielder took off from first on a fly ball as if it was the third out, but it was only the second. He was halfway between second and third when he realized. Easy inning-ending double play.
Top 6th: 3-3
Good pitch there after the wild pitch to get out of the inning
Horns get out of another self-inflicted jam in the top of the 6th to get out without any harm done. Two wild pitches helped Texas State get runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs but Cox followed it up with his second inning-ending K.
Bottom 6th: 3-3
If Tx State could bunt to save their lives this game would be atleast 5-3 Tx State. When did kids stop learning how to execute on fundamental baseball?
