FG -- 40.9%
Also I'd say the 21 FTA per game
Yeah, but I went back and saw that last year's figure was only 22. I grant that both are low. 25 looks to be more typical for Texas teams under Barnes; however, the 2008 Elite Eight team was at only 19.
I could see FG%, Pts/g, TO/g, and a/g all improving, Even though we will get better looks theoretically, I don't think our 3pt % improving. We just don't have many consistent 3pt shooters.
But, the only stat I really care about is win % and I'm hoping he can impact that dramatically.
The turn-over/assist ratio should reverse. That's truly pathetic. Other than that, I don't know how much impact that Myck will make over the last month of the season. He's going to be crusted with rust and has no experience playing with the young bigs . Obviously; he's going to be much better than Felix; but I don't know how much difference he's going to make on the other stats this late in the season.
You might be right about the "rust", but remember, that it is not like he has been out with an injury - he has practiced with the team on a consistent basis. However that turns out, It will be interesting to see how these issues trend out for the rest of the season.
Don't overlook his ability to defend. He is much longer than Felix, and he and Holland together could be a formidable defensive backcourt. Backcourt turnovers lead to layups.
I played ball through college, even if at a low level. Its a big difference between practice and games against teams you don't see every day. I hope he can step in seamlessly, but it isn't likely to happen. We should be better from day one with him; simply since Felix has completely run out of gas; but I'm not expecting the second coming. He is going to press his game for at least a couple or three games and be hung out to dry when trying to over penetrate for the first several games. Like you though; I'm interested to see how we look over the last several games and during the tournament. Then we have to hope he comes back next year; which is a different storyl
Yeah, there is a difference between practice and games, and frankly, after watching Myck last year, I am far from convinced that he is the second coming of anybody. He does have tantalizing skills, though. I am hoping that he and the team does well, but I am also hoping that Myck sees good reason to come back and play with our young team, hopefully, with those good new guys.
He will without question be better defensively than Felix. That really shouldn't be debatable. Better defense could lead to easier baskets.
But, statistically if all HE does Offensively is reverse the assist/ turn over ratio, then the other stats will improve. Maybe not the 3pt %, but ppg would increase because we would be getting more shots due to fewer turn-overs, and making more due to the increase in Assists. Since we would be making 4-5 more fg's per game, I would assume the fg% would improve.
And while there is a big difference between games and practice, we need his energy, leadership, and enthusiasm sorely.
how to get excited about Kabongo when he's just finishing out this horrible season to improve his draft status?
Maybe because he will be wearing a Longhorn jersey while he does it? I consider it far easier to get excited about Kabongo than about McClellan or Bond.
Signatures are stupid. You should block them.
FG- 50% 3 pt 25%
PPG- 66, T.O./g 18. A/g 18
I wasn't far off. Thought T.O.'s would go down, not up, but at least the assist/t.o. ratio was at least even.
Through 33 1/2 minutes in game 2:
Yeah, this game was a disaster. What were we on 3's tonight? Me missed a lot of wide open 3's.
