Oklahoma delenda est
Reading this report, even though it is not official, this doesn't bode well for this season unless the defense reminds us of the days of Fred Akers...........for what its worth I've never thought Mack would start, or have meaningful snaps, with a true freshman QB. This report seems to say that..............

Anyway you look at it, this is a rebuilding year, albeit with upside.
Gilbert has had his fair share of chances and more than ample encouragement from the staff.
Starting Gilbert will only postpone the inevitable.
Put Ash in the fire and let him grow up.
Mack is looking for leadership..Ash has it, Gilbert can't find it

Connor Wood is getting screwed by the coaching staff. He's the best option physically and can make all the throws. McCoy should have never been an option because of his physical limitations. If you can't throw the ball 30 yards you shouldn't play at Texas.

"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
If Connor Wood could hit the broadside of a barn, he would get more snaps with the 1st team.
I still think the key thing here is that after being in the program 2 full years, and having one full year as a starter GG cannot seperate from the others who have not played a down. Yes, i know Case took a couple of snaps last year, but he is not exactly battle tested. given the GG cannot elevate himself over a couple of guys who have not played tells me the guy is unlikely going to be the answer. Time to stop wasting snaps on him, and get Ash ready to go. It will pay big dividends in 2012 and 2013. Hell, it might pay big dividends this year.

This report by Bobby seems to confirm my thinking all along that only Ash and Wood have the tools it take to be a starting QB at UT in the long run.
But looks like there's a good chance Ash won't start and Wood stays relegated to #4 position.
I do not believe that starting a "true freshman" is riskier than starting a guy (GG) who's had all the opportunities (and maybe even some "entitlement") and has consistently shown he cannot do the job.
