I get what you are saying, Bobby.
It just seems like Mack always provides the anti-swagger for this team.
If Diggs can't start against Rice, he won't start against Rice. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about Rice. We're sitting here, and he's supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about Rice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about Rice, not OU, not OU, not OU, but we're talking about Rice. Not BYU, a game that he'll need to go out there and die for and play every play last it's my last, but we're talking about Rice, man. How silly is that?
Now I know that Mack's supposed to lead by example and all that but he's not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. He knows it's important, he honestly does, but we're talking about Rice. We're talking about Rice, man. We're talking about Rice. We're talking about Rice. We're not talking about A&M. We're talking about Rice. When you come to DKR, and you see Diggs play, you'll see him start almost every other game, but we're talking about Rice right now.
Until the games start and we see that some of the bad characteristics that led to 5-7 are gone we will naturally have some uneasiness over things that may or may not be indicative of more of the same.
Mack is notorious for keeping guys on the bench in favor of the less deserving guy for one reason or another, youth/experience, lack of a clearly defined role in Greg Davis' shitty scheme, etc. I am hopeful that everything we have been hearing so far is true and things have changed. We'll find out starting Saturday, so there's no point in beating the crap out of each other arguing about it two days before the opening kickoff.
