Who is arguing that? Not me. The point I made was simple. David Ash made significant progress from last year. This is true without question. It is also true he must continue to improve if we want to compete for a conference championship.
And for the record, that only happened in three games this year. Two of them we lost (TCU and with Case against KSU- though I wouldn't say we had a good chance to win a 42-24 game) and one we won (KU). So Ash's poor play really only cost us one game.

I don't buy that a new coach can't fix the QB problem. You can't tell me that Art Briles wouldn't be able to maximize a guy like David Ash's potential. He simplifies the game for his signal callers and has always gotten the most out of the guys playing QB for him.
Now, I'm not saying Briles is the best candidate to replace Mack. However, he would be a guy that could get a lot more out of the QB position.
The game is all a about money and Mack has made a pile of it for UT. When he got here our athletic department was losing money. That, more than anything, is the reason for5mil a year. No one expected the team to be great this year and in normal Mack fashion we didn't play above ourselves. Mack is coming back so you all can swollow or vomit but let's move on and support our team irregardless. Manny needs to get fired right now. The defense, more than anything, offered no help this year. We need a seasoned war horse tha k owe how inspire and coach the middle of our defense to be in position and make plays. The talent is there.

"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Yes, I agree he has, but, continued errors.

That is correct. Not for lack of wanting. However, I'm a youth minister who is supporting a wife and five children. I literally bought a motorcycle to afford the gas, and we have a $250 a month grocery budget for a family of seven. Every cent is accounted for each month. Not complaining, as I'm happy to make that sacrifice. Just telling you why a few dollars a month is not justifiable in my house currently.
Are you Catholic?
"I don't hate you, I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence."
Uh oh. I think someone has me pegged. :)
Haha. My bad, man.
Hahaha. No worries. I work at a Catholic Church in Dallas. I love the work!
This kind of a fan and we pay Mack Brown $5,000,000 a year....$15,000 a day!!!!! These are the Longhorn fans that have been let down by this coach, team, and university. I wish Red McCombs could read this!!!
"Three things can happen when you throw the ball and two of 'em are bad."........Darrell Royal
That's cool, man. I dated a girl in HS who was Catholic. She had like 10 brothers and sisters. It was crazy, and that is an understatement. Good to see that you have your priorities in order.
Hey, don't get me wrong. I don't begrudge any man his money. If Mack was winning football games, it wouldn't bother me a bit that he makes 5 mil a year. I have had opportunities to take jobs that would've paid me more, but have chosen to work in ministry. So no sour grapes about salary from me. My complaint with Mack is all performance related. In other words, if Mack was making what I make, I'd still want him gone. But I appreciate the sentiment on my behalf all the same. :)
It's obvious that Ash has made improvements from last year's "Deer in the Headlights" performance. The one thing I was happy to see last night from Ash was the clean-cut hair under the ball cap. Finally someone cut that mop-head of hair that was getting in Ash's eyes and preventing him from seeing the field. I sure as hell don't nee Beiber in my backfield!!! Now if that same person could get to McCoy's retro late 1970's "White Man's Afro" and get the clippers to shave his small dome bald. Because it looks to me that McCoy is hiding a premature receding hairline on his coconut.

i agree with that. we played 3 good defenses this year & ash can't produce typical spread offense qb every thing is
rosey until he starts getting hit -- ou/wrist , tcu/ribs etc. also sick of all these damn trick plays .
Very cool gesture. Kudos to Mr./Mrs. Anonymous.
Oh my goodness! I don't know what to say. That was totally unnecessary, but it was also very generous. Thank you Bobby. And thank you to the generous person who offered to do this. I hope some day I get the opportunity to pay you back. I love the Longhorns and love this website. Having access to the inside scoop means a lot. I really appreciate your generosity. I pray that you'll reap a hundredfold.
Absolutely! I hope I get to thank the person some day.
The Texas QBs would rate only ahead of Kansas in the Big 12 for its quarterbacks.
The teams definitely ahead of Texas at the QB situation...
Seth Doege - Tech
Nick Florence - Baylor
Collin Klein - K-State
Landry Jones - OU
Not sure on three teams.
- Oklahoma State: They put up points with a triumvirate of starters. So my guess is the best one is better than Ash/McCoy.
- TCU: Definitely would have been ahead of Texas with Pachall at the helm. I think the freshman they have has played well given the circumstances.
- Iowa State: Just wonder what the QBs there could have done with a better offensive line. Jantz is erratic but it's the worst offensive line in the league IMO.
In a quarterback league, good luck winning all your games when you're not in the top half.
