I really don't think the meeting is about Major.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!
- Jeff Howe
I'm hoping the meeting is about Dodds
Great article IMO.
Rick Perry needs to govern, not control the BOR.

Frankly, he needs to do neither. It's embarrassing to this state that he's been reelected three times. This is not a political post, as his party doesn't concern me. His being a complete moron concerns me.
Agree with this...they don't wanna go toe to toe with Joe...Prolly more about Delost
“They’ve already taken action on Major. There’s no crime involved, period, no penalty. It’s not a University of Texas rule violation. Spitting in the street in Austin is a bigger crime than whatever Major did. That’s a $25 fine.”
Good old Joe making his point.
If Rick Ferry is driving this discussion it is absolutely pathetic. I would consider myself more on the conservative side but I'm getting so fed up with this f..cker's meddling into UT.
Bobby - is anyone able to validate that this hastily called meeting on a Sunday afternoon is being driven by this aggie cheerleader?
Perry wants Powers gone. He'll use anything to accomplish that. This meeting is just another step toward his goal.
I agree with your statement, but, don't you spell that "maroon"?
Part of the Governor's role is and has always been BOR appointments for all of the state universities. I get that he's not well liked on the message boards, and I get why, but Perry is not doing anything that every other Texas Governor hasn't also done.
Which previous Texas governor wanted to turn the state's best two public universities in to diploma mills?

Help me out here. I've been out of Texas for eighteen years and I can't understand Perry or how he get's re-elected. Has Texas changes that much? The guy is a joke, not very smart and he surely should not be the Gov of Texas. Is Texas so strapped for good public officials that he's the best there is? It's sad.
First and foremost, and putting politics aside, doing something poorly is not the same thing as doing something you're not supposed to be doing at all. Bobby's objection seemed to be that the Governor has no role in BOR deliberations. I disagree with that as a simple matter of history and fact.
I'm not entirely sure how appropriate it is to get into the politics of the fight here (as opposed to some other forum), but suffice to say that It's always easy to poke at the specifics of any particular reform effort. What's becoming increasingly clear is that the status quo is not sustainable in the long (or even mid) term.
You are McLovin
He has an (R) next to his name, which is all that matters to most voters in this state. We deserve our moronic, imbecilic governor.
Let's start with term limits for governor similar to the one for the president.
I think term limits are an excuse for lazy voters though I would have changed the POTUS to 1 six year term (all for the record books good or bad, the idea of a sitting us POTUS "campaigning" is ugly to me regardless of party)
Having said that, one can never underestimate the stupidity and laziness of voters.
The Sen from Larado is a dumbass and just seeking attention.
BoR should meet for whatever they think is a valid reason, clearly they see this as valid.
That's right. I am
Texas regents are in their second hour of meeting in closed session via conference call. No regent is present; only Texas chancellor, staff.
Mike Finger @mikefinger
@kbohls I know who else isn't present and his name rhymes with Dirk Rolls.
Indeed old Coke Stevenson had my name sake (for board purposes) fired. J Frank Dobie was dismissed from The University about 1944.Of course statements like " "When I get ready to explain homemade fascism in America, I can take my example from the state capitol of Texas." might have seemed a little harsh to Coke. Seriously there has been lots of interference from past governors but Perry has an unique agenda to Aggonize eduction by changing government courses etc.
275-0 scoring margin
Dana X Bible's National Championship team
It all started when Prick Cherry didn't stop aggy from joining the SEC. He certainly has an agenda to bring down UT. And, it's obvious.

Not many things in my life have been better than sitting beside a fire on the Nueces River listening to "Uncle" J Frank tell stories to us kids. We had no real idea who he was, other than a guy who wrote books, but we surely appreciated his ghost stories and cowboy stories.
