Report comes from the Houston Chronicle, citing sources.
Cougars, Longhorns to meet in College Basketball Invitational
And here I had been thinking there was no reason to turn down an invitation to even the CBI.
The universe is such a perverse place at times.
Guess I'll get me 2 cents in before this thread becomes more about bashing Barnes than the actual CBI.
If you look at the history of the CBI in its limited existence, there have been some particularly big name schools that have played in it the past few years and are now playing in the NCAA tournament.
Pittsburgh and Butler in 2012
Oregon and Creighton in 2011
VCU and St. Louis in 2010
Don't sleep on us in this tourney. This should be a good opportunity for the team to continue to work towards next season.
What channel and what time will this be on tv?
16-team field, 8 1st rd games in total.
Channel: AXS TV (formerly HD Net). Ch. 1106 (AT&T U-Verse in Houston).
2 games on Tuesday night. 2 games on Wednesday night.
pathic..... Where is Abe Lemons? Hell. where is Bob Weltlich>>>>>>>>>
I might go.
And Texas plays what night?
Texas plays UH in baseball on Tuesday at UH too. Right on...
The article in the linky above from the Houston Chronicle sez, and I quote:
"The University of Houston will accept a bid to play in the College Basketball Invitational and will host Texas on Wednesday night at Hofheinz Pavilion, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
Tip-off between the former Southwest Conference rivals will be finalized Sunday night.
The Cougars (19-12) are making their first postseason appearance since making the NCAA Tournament in 2010. UH played in the CBI in back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009.
UH advanced to the tournament semifinals in 2008, beating Nevada and Valparaiso before losing to Tulsa, and lost to Oregon State in the first round the following season.
The Longhorns (16-17) failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. During its 14-year tournament run, UT advanced to the Final Four in 2003 and to regional finals in 2006 and 2008.
Texas is the first Big 12 team to play in the CBI in the tournament’s six-year history.
The Cougars finished 7-9 during the regular season in Conference USA and lost to UTEP in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament Thursday.
UH and UT last played in 2000, a 71-60 win by the Longhorns at Hofheinz Pavilion."

From a coach who said anything below a sweet sixteen was unacceptable to this.
And you're just now realizing we weren't going to be in the NCAAs?
Abe is (sadly) dead. Weltlich only spent his time at Texas appearing to be dead. Overall record: 77-98. Worst season: 6-22.
NCAA appearances in six years: zero.
If you want to bash Barnes, you're going to have to compare him to someone who has never coached at Texas.
CBI Bracket Unveiled
Texas plays at Houston on Wednesday night at 9 pm EST. Game will be 1 of 4 televised on AXS TV.
Realized that two months ago

If we make it to the finals and play Lehigh, that has the potential to be a pretty decent game...
Agree except don't think CJ McCollum will be available for Lehigh. Broken foot in early January, expected to miss 8-10 weeks. Not expecting him to jeopardize his draft status by playing before the draft workouts.
wow. If we don't win this thing we should just shut down the program.
They re-seed for the semi-finals.
aggy didn't make a post-season tournament.
More games for Myck to show off for the NBA.
Channel 340 on Direct if anyone cares.
