In the past, I've never had to worry about having a ticket to the game. I would just go to the stadium and inevitably someone (or several) people would be holding tickets up trying to sell them. I haven't been in Austin for a few years. Is this still true?
Worked for me every time over the last 3 years
The two best places I've found to pick up gameday tickets are in front of Scholz's and in front of the Alumni Center.
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
Then it's still true. Almost every game I have ever been to at Memorial Stadium, I went without a ticket.
I wasn't going to be in Austin this year and my then wife made some plans that I wasn't aware of.
I think I'll just head down that way. It will be like old times.
I usually got them across the street at the corner. If people are holding up tickets anywhere in that area, I shouldn't have any problem.

Is this the same case outside the TX/OU game, either outside the fairgrounds or outside the stadium???
I always have had a ticket for that one beforehand except once and I found a guy selling. I'd advise getting tickets beforehand for that game just so you can enjoy the fair and not worry about tickets. You could also hand the gate person a $20 and that usually gets people in but you wouldn't have a seat.
Thanks, on that note, does anybody know of a contact for tickets at this point? Everything I'm finding online is super overpriced!
One idea that may sound nuts is to just buy tickets to the fair and find a place near the stadium and watch on TV. There'll be 250,000 other people at the fair, so there'll be lots of UT and OU fans there without tickets for the game doing the same thing. You'll be close enough to hear the crowd and there'll be plenty of chances to hassle the Sooner fans as they sadly leave the Cotton Bowl afterward. It may be the next best thing to being there if you can't afford game tickets.
That game is a different animal. If both teams are good, the prices will be crazy.

Thanks guys, when I was a kid, tradition was to go to the fair for my birthday (Oct. 9th) however I haven't been back in years. Since this year is my (choke)...30th...my gf was really trying to get tickets to this game is she knows it's been a dream of mine to go for a while....but I think Bevo52's idea is a good one, that way we still get to experience the fair and the agony on the Sooner fan's faces after the game.
I was planning to make the Wyoming game. I was thinking tickets might be pretty easy to get for that game.
Don't be so specific!
