A few players met with the radio broadcast crew after the game.
That's one of the things we've been talking about doing all week to honor Coach Royal....We felt like if we couldn't run the play we wanted to run we'd line up and call time out and just point up and say thanks, but when we got out there we said what the heck let's run it...The thing about this play was not only did we give tribute to Coach Royal, but we got a really good play out of it.
It just kind of depends week to week what the defense is going as to who gets what passes...It just so happens this week they were playing a coverage I was able to get the ball a lot.
When you go across the middle you always have to expect to get hit, you have to sacrifice your body in those situations. What was going through my mind was I have to catch the ball no matter what.

Could not have imagined a better game opening tribute to Coach Royal.

It was just a great deal to come out today and get the win and just pound out the football. We wanted to run first and then get the pass going, and that's what we did today.
On his mindset on the Wishbone play:
It was get open, sell the run and catch that ball when it comes to me. I'm glad it worked...David threw a great pass.
We've just got to go back to work an keep grinding and grinding. Hopefully more comes to us.
Mixed feelings there (on the Wishbone play). We lined up in the Wishbone, but we didn't run the power [laughs]....We popped them for a good play and got to salute Darrell K Royal.
On having to come off the field briefly:
I needed a minute for the pain to subside so I could get back on the field as quick as possible...I tweaked my ankle a little last week...I wasn't even missed (today)...I better get over that ankle pretty quickly. I don't want to lose that spot.
It's good to see it's coming together for us...We took some scrutiny there like we should have, but we're working to get better and better every week...We'll see where it goes. We're going to come to work everyday with a good attitude. I'm excited for the rest of the season.
On the bye week:
It's a long season, at this point you've got something bothering you a little bit. Having some time off before that Thursday game will be big....Everybody's excited for it but we're going to put in as much time as possible on TCU this week.
This guy gets it.

Refreshing to hear. No more Michael Huey giving out A grades.
Honest assessment. Hope it continues
