You're playing sandlot football and picking teams. Earl, Ricky and Vince are available. Who ya taking first and why?
XoGisele, Ashley Sky, Niki Skyler
Vince. He can run AND pass. The pump fake against OSU was sandlot-esque
Ooh I love watching that play.
Id take Earl cuz hed just run over everybody
Assuming they are still in their prime, I take Earl. If I'm picking - I'm the QB :-)
Vince. He touches the ball on every offensive play, and at the collegiate level a quarterback with his abilities can take over a game like no other in clutch situations (see the last 6 minutes-plus of the 2006 Rose Bowl).
Vince and it isn't even close.
"I don't hate you, I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence."
In most instances Vince is the answer. He can run and pass. Is it sandlot tackle? I might pick Earl just so I would not have to tackle him and I suspect in his prime he could tackle Vince. Ricky Williams is the complete player. Could block and catch passes and great runner. We tend to forget just how good he was. Three great players.
275-0 scoring margin
Dana X Bible's National Championship team
Since we are talkin Sandlot, I gotta say "none of the above" and roll with my boy Squints.
He is a non-factor if Wendy Peppercorn is on the sidelines.
VY and its not close
IMO, you would have to have the ignorance of having never seen Earl play to even think about naming anyone else. Earl is significantly faster and more powerful than Vince. No one is going to catch or tackle Earl in a sandlot game.
If it's VY and not close, you must be under 45. If you haven't seen all three play in their prime, you can't have a valuable opinion.
Yes, please change the thread title to include " MUST BE 50 YEARS OR OLDER TO HAVE AN OPINION* "
I can respect your opinion. Just as you should respect others opinions as well. I myself feel that Vince would provide more versatility in being exceptionally fast and able to threaten with the pass as well. Two different types of threats that open each other so well can't go wrong.
If it's tackle football, then hell yeah... Earl.
If it's not, VY.
if it was a basic two below sandlot game, there are a ton of former UT guys I would take ahead of all three. Different game. I'd like an Eric Metcalf or Herkie Walls for that type of game. Moves and quickness. Of the three, Earl is hard to bring down in tackle but sandlot is usually not that.
Gotta think about defense and who is going to tackle the opponent. That would be the Tyler Rose.
Outside of the three.....prolly Bobby Layne.
