Before coming to OSU, Spencer was an assistant and head coach at West Georgia (1990-2000) and an assistant at Georgia Tech (2001-03) and Duke (2004-06).
STILLWATER The Oklahoma State coaching staff is officially undergoing an overhaul, with its oft-embattled defensive coordinator out of a job.

Young says his OSU exit was planned before 2012 season
Young coordinated a defense that led the nation in takeaways in 2011. The Cowboys, potent on offense, capitalized to win their first Big 12 championship and advance to their first BCS bowl.
Young said that team, which finished 12-1 and was upset in double overtime at Iowa State, was one play away from playing in the national championship game. And though the Cowboy defense ranked poorly in national statistics in 2011, Young said he didn’t think the defense was all that bad considering the number of snaps (1,089) the defense had to play.
Young said defenses have “no chance” when your program has an offense like the one used by OSU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Houston, West Virginia and other teams.
“In a hurry, hurry, hurry offense, you just play too many snaps,” he said.
