Yup, pretty sure we will. Provided we don't need a field goal.
Your points on 1 & 2 are eerily similar to our team w/ LB's & Shipley.
Not sure why everyone's hating, not like you were talking trash. Just giving us your $.02
A Horn has something to say about our OL? Good God are you trolling?
I'm inclined to trust your assessment on OU, but Papa does raise some pretty solid issues on your OL.
The statement re your defense being better than ours is costing you some cred though.
This defense will be the best you've seen from us since '04, when your 12-1 team scored 12 points on us, even though our O was shut out.
1) You will not run up the middle on us. Dorsey, Jackson, Moore, Edmond say so.
2) You will feel pass pressure from both sides.
3) You'll face 13 players likely to go pro in round 1-4, half in round 1-2.
4) You'll face the best CB tandom in the Big 12, perhaps nationally.
5) you'll face a Thorpe candidate at S.
As much as I appreciate your candid comments, you are really missing it on this point.
Lastly, although Landry is a real talent, the fact remains, he has not really been a winner in big games. I see one good win over NU for the Big 12, scoring 23. He is not a guy who elevates his team to win the big ones, if he even gets them there. He is capped out, really after his 2nd season. You've seen all you're going to from him...
If we avoid turning the ball over more than twice, we will win this time around.

I was enjoying his takes until the bs about our defenses.
We'll see how dear Mikey does against current Big XII offenses. It's not 2000 anymore, and he just finished trotting out reheated dog crap for his annual defense at Zona. We're just good QB play way from being the Sooner's defensive nightmare. Effective play action and trend breakers eat them up. Guess what we like to do.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
It is complete and total bullshit that these dipshits can come muddy up our board while your mod won't let any other fans post on his board.
This. I'm tired of the inbred lurkers, but it is fascinating to see how many people need to know what UT is doing at all times.
You got papa hating on OUs OL which is very head scratching considering your own OL is so bad that Mack Brown sold his soul and signed a Juco. A Juco at the Harvard of Lake Travis?
Now we have you doubting OUs ability to 3 peat against the Horns because of poor QB play of Landry Jones? I truly am convinced you two are a couple of Aggie trolls. No way a UT educated Horn would throw out the lack of OL and QB as being the Achilles heel of the Sooners.
In my opinion, Kenny Stills becomes that guy for them. That kid can flat out play.

Attempting to compare the matchup:
Offense - advantage OU at QB, WR, TE. OL might be even. Advantage UT at RB.
Defense - advantage UT at DB, DL. LB might be even.
thin skinned homers on hookem
Papa's comments were right on, and Brutha has yet to counter. The fact that our OL has been down since '08 do to some horrendous recruiting and equally bad development, should in no way invalidate Papa's criticism's of Brutha's claims that OU will be strong on it's OL. Perhaps your education hasn't equipped you to follow that logic.
Re Landry and the relevance of good QB play in our next matchup: even a cursory look by you at Landry's stat trends would have revealed the point I made about him having peaked without winning any big ones. You may not want to muddy the waters of your highly educated statements with things like facts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Landry's biggest victory so far be over Connecticutt? Now there's a football powerhouse... And since reading comprehension may not be much of a priority for Oklahoman's like yourself, let me help you: the main point of my post was that our defense is much better than OU's, perhaps our best since '04, and although I didn't say it quite this clearly, they'll be kicking OU's ass in October. You got 24 against our defense last year. You wont break 20 this year. Then, in the last sentence I state quite clearly, although missed by you, that the key determinant in our next game will be whether or not we limit our turnovers to 2 or less. The outcome will depend on our QB, not yours, as yours will fail to rise to the occassion if it is a big game, as usual.
Lastly, having seen how limiting your posts to well reasoned statements is difficult for you, leaving you reliant on the personal attack, let me also reply. Since I am a UT graduate, and you are an OU fan on a UT website (did you miss the "Hookem.com" site name? It's at the top of this page), I'm pretty sure that would make you the troll. I have a degree in math and computer science, with an MBA from UT's Internationally ranked business school, making me an educated UT Horn. Since educational backgrounds seem important to you, what is yours?

I award jj 3 points. Great post jj.
I don't care if he's Teddy Lehman fast, 173 lbs at DE just isn't going to cut it in the Big XII.
You have to question the value of that Horn education if you made it out of their not knowing the definition of fact. Throw in the definition of troll too sense that one escaped you as well. My network name somewhat indicates likely a Sooner and the thread topic regards my team. That isn't what we call a troll.
Regarding the strength of our OL, look no further than our game last year. UT did not get to Jones and we have about 9 of 10 of them coming back. At OU, OLs coming back is a good thing, at UT not so much.
Yes we are your hated rival so wise cracks about the opposing QB is always tongue in cheek. For example, truthfully speaking, who of our two teams has the best QB going into the RRS?

Been out a while:
1. Our OL will be no issue. My only concern, not the coaches, is LT. I dont trust Johnson. Aside from that, we are very deep and very good up front. Our OL will allow us to be very balanced on offense.
2. My only concern on defense is LB depth. If they can stay healthy, our defense will be as good as any.
Ive read all about the texas defense. Ive heard how its going to be the best unit in the conference and perhaps in the nation. I hear about the talent you guys have all the time. I am confident we will be able to score. Your DL is a year stronger but so is our OL. We played a lot of people last year and that will pay off this year. Surgery in the spring isnt the fall, so we will see how our health is then.
Well, Jones has done will in big games for us. Nebraska, FSU, OKst 2010, Texas 2010 and 2011. Not as good as Sam or White IMO, but still plenty good. This year, he should improve even more. Unlike the two previously mentioned QBs we had, he hasnt had a running game to help him out yet. That will change this year and hopefully he will be able to go from under center a bit more than he has in the past. Spring game wont tell us much for Jones and I expect to see Allen, Bell and Thompson get most of the snaps. To this point though, the passing game has been pretty good in spite of good coverage on the back end.
texas is going to have to improve a great deal this year on both sides of the ball to win the RRS. We wont know if you are real or not based on your OOC, but this year, your team had a ton of confidence coming with a #11 ranking after whipping UCLA, BYU and Wyoming I think. If the running game and defense is truly going to be the gameplan, the teams on your OOC better not be able to get too many 3 and outs. If they do, your conference opponents will be able to for sure.
There are a lot more questions about texas than OU coming into this season.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
Almost. OL is not even close to being even man, c'mon. On defense, the OU LBs are better and DB is even IMO. We lost some studs at DE so I cant say anything about that until gametime, but I am confident about everything else. But, we will see. Its only 6 months away.
This x10000000. I don't mind other fans posting on our board, I don't even mind others trolling our board, so long as were afforded the same opportunity. Either tell that prison bitch, piece of Beatle feces to quit being a pussy or keep the dirt burglars in their trailers and off our site.
You're pretty well spoken for an Okie.
Disciplina praesidium civitatis
Sure he meant 273 and not 173. OU has a tremendous interior DL. They have 8 guys and can rotate 5 or 6. But have 4 experienced players. They are replacing their DEs from last year. Both graduated so maybe edge play will be down a bit but they have horses. RJ is good. They will be a handful. OL is also tough. Very big and very strong.
