National Director of Scouting & Recruiting Analyst
+1...................good post NY
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
He speaks! .,. Of Longhorn basketball!
Kelly Oubre is a pipe dream at this point.
The sentence stating that he speaks often to "fellow teammate and current Longhorn Cameron Ridley" says all I need to know.
There are tons of storylines this offseason, which deserve the proper attention.
1. Julien Lewis
3. Assistant Coaches looking to leave
4. Recruiting to finish out '13, possible transfers
5. Recruiting Outlook for '14
6. Changes Barnes plans to make to right the ship.
7. How the current recruits fit into the future of the program.
8. Pressure Barnes fills for next year
9. What is the atmosphere inside the UT locker room?
That's literally off the top of my head. I don't pay for the site, so I have no right to complain, just wanted to point out this is anything but a quiet off-season. The bottom line is that the sport is just not important to Bobby or he would hire someone specifically for basketball.
more hoops coverage please

This is how it always is and has been. Traffic drives sites. Basketball doesn't drive traffic here. We know this by threads and by responses.
The day-to-day musings of three-star football prospects draw more posts here than a basketball game thread. It's just the way it is. Go to Inside Carolina or phog.net or a Kentucky site, and basketball is treated like football. It never will be that way here.
I know there's a middle ground somewhere, but if I were determining who does what, I'd put a Texas basketball guy on football if that's what was needed.
“Kansas may wind up number one in these polls, but that would be so unfair to Texas...” -- Len Elmore, 2/13/11
Again, didn't mean there weren't any story lines this offseason, just that, as of yesterday, we didn't have anything new to report on Kabongo or Lewis - the two newsworthy things at the moment.
It's a long offseason and we'll have time to hit on Nos. 5-9 on that list. And we'll report anything we hear on Nos. 1-4 when we hear it. As Gerry mentioned on his post, he should be getting some nuggets soon.
I'll be attending the basketball banquet tomorrow night. I doubt there will be anything newsworthy coming out of it, but I'll be there just in case.
Seems like basketball threads actually have a pretty good response considering most of them are generated by people other than the mods. Look at this one for instance. And this one doesn't even have subject matter other than a request for information. Give the people what they want! Do a little digging, There are stories to be shared here. if 247 is looking to set them apart from other sights we have been membes of in the past(or still are) this might be another good place to shine, Sunshine pumper that I am on a rainy day.
Did we ever get a real writeup on Kendall Yancy Harris and where he fits in next year and beyond? Getting him and Croaker to sign on is pretty huge for Barnes and probably is a boon in his ongoing conversation with Julien Lewis. I really want Lewis back in a big way. Next years team may not have the perfect roster but there is a lot of talent there. Felix has a lot of experience to work with this offseason and we've got some guards to push him when the matchups aren't working in his favor. After watching Louisville beat Michigan I couldn't help bt think that the effort Pitino was getting from his players has always been what Barnes has been after as well. Free from the burden of a headcase or two, team chemistry can go through some serious transformation for the better. I do wish a competant, athletic small forward would arrive although Pappi might be our best player next year.

I'm another (that hasn't posted on the thread) that really likes the basketball info. As someone who is not currently subscribing I don't feel like I have any right to complain, however I will say that the lack of basketball info is a big part of the reason I have not renewed.
I understand what you meant. I just think if there was a question of whether Jeffcoat was going pro, or Edmond was transferring, there would be coverage. You wouldn't be sitting back and waiting on the SID to make it official.
To further compound that, I have heard that literally every player wants to leave and is weighing their options. Others have reported that every coach wants to leave. That means the entire basketball program is crumbling, yet we are waiting on the SID to report it.
There is no way the football program could have similar rumors floating around without some kind of response from the mods.
And who are we recruiting? There are all kinds of threads about who UT is reaching out to, inquiring about, or offering for football. Yet, we don't know if UT is done in '13 or who they are recruiting in '14, other than Oubre. I'm sure Gerry will cover that in his nuggets when he has time, but these are questions Jordan has been asking every other day since the UH game.
I tell you what....this thread is shining some light on the situation. We will see what the mods decide to do! But i know saying that there isnt day to day coverage is not true.
What's for dessert?
Whilst promoting their album Beggar's Banquet, The Rolling Stones have a food fight.
This is what I am talking about. Bierce leads the way. This staff can't even find stuff like this because they are not looking. Are we looking for another player to sign? That is not news I guess.
Agree with this and other posts. The lack of coverage of sports other than football is a real negative to this service for which I AM paying.
I read all the basketball updates too, even when we suck
Not unless Texas is going after him. We'll let you know if we hear that they are.
Good for you and most of us do as well. But we won't to know what they are trying to do to get better. Hoops Coach the entire team does not want to transfer.
You would be surprised. I didn't believe it either until I started talking to people that would know. Now, they obviously won't all transfer, but that's not the point. Almost all don't WANT to play for Barnes any more. They will likely just stay so they don't have to sit out a year.
Depends on who you talk to. Me and another guy have different sources saying different things. We are not exactly sure what is true or not. If Ridley wants out why is he wanting his friend to commit?
Until Oubre commits, I will stick with what I have been told. What do you expect kids to say?
I will also add, why would players tell Randle not to come, but they are going to tell Oubre to come? He was a teammate of Ridley and is friends with McClellan.
Jordan, you are making a very important point. I don't have any sources. But, when people claim sources said this or that without any verifiable information to back up what those sources say, you have to wonder whether those sources have any real information, or whether they just have an ax to grind for a particular point of view. I am not questioning your sources or HoopsCoach's sources in this discussion. My point is that, in this day and age, "information" provided by "sources" isn't worth much until it is verifiable. I think what is frustrating many on this thread is that there are hints as to what will happen wafting on the winds. Those hints are fed by speculation and innuendo - not facts. The complaints on this thread about a lack of basketball reporting or commentary notwithstanding, you cannot turn speculation and innuendo into actualities until those facts ... well, until they actually become factual.
I also am a basketball fan a little more than a football fan though I follow the football team, too. I find the site very frustrating. It is only marginally better with respect to basketball than the free sites and at times wonder why I keep paying.
I have wondered why the day to day musings of a three star football players who seem to have about one in five chance of ever seeing time on the playing field are so breathlessly more important than virtually any basketball story-- even after the football season is over.
