Signs point to the defensive makeover the Dallas Cowboys began in free agency continuing this week in the draft.
As part of a furious shopping spree last month, the Cowboys signed Kansas City cornerback Brandon Carr, Carolina linebacker Dan Connor and New York Jets safety Brodney Pool.
Versatile, athletic Cox could give Cowboys what they passed up on with DE J.J. Watt in last season's draft
Three Alabama alums — safety Mark Barron, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick and outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw — all have been linked to Dallas and would fill needs in Rob Ryan's 3-4 defense. Stanford guard David DeCastro could also be a target, but owner Jerry Jones would prefer a pass rusher to complement Pro Bowl outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware. Most mock drafts have Dallas targeting either a pass rusher or defensive back in the first round, a nod to the club ranking 23rd in the NFL last season in passing yards allowed per game. Barron, leader of Alabama's top-ranked defense last season, is a trendy pick for the Cowboys among analysts. Cox is considered the best in a deep defensive tackle pool but likely will be gone by the time the Cowboys are on the clock.

"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
We need secondary help as well as O line help. Should be interesting watching the draft next week.

I wish the Cowboys had a DC I could trust. The entire Ryan family should be better known for running their collective mouths than their ability to coach football.
We need DL help more than anytthing. It doesn't matter who's in the secondary if we have no pass rush.
QB pressure in the 3-4 typically doesn't come from you're 3 down lineman. It certainly helps (see NY Giants) but it's usually from the OLB's and scheme's.
Not sure if I misunderstood your post, but getting pressure with the DL is exactly why the Giants are so good. They run a 4-3 and when they rush Tuck, JPP, and Osi...good luck.
Barron and one of the Wisconsin linemen would be perfect.
I forgot the Giants run the 4-3, my bad. They also tend to rush 4 DE's on a lot of passing situations.

Draft analyst: Cowboys have been 'locked in' on Mark Barron for weeks
Jerry usually shows his hand way early so I'm guessing it's Barron.
