I have a young friend at a&m who sent me the following. Can someone tell me if the stuff about the law & med schools is true or if it's just more ag drivil? The true part about the UT Big 12 domination, well too bad ags; wait till you try on the SEC.
"Aggies that are my age have a legitimate hatred of our brothers in Austin for a multitude of reasons including their blocking of us gaining a law school and medical school and the domination of the Big 12."
No insight on your question other than this: It is up to the legislature as to whether or not to fund redundant colleges and departments. Why have another law school if there is not demand for it?
I guess Texas is responsible for them having to close their business school, too. Or maybe that was just the total suckage of the program.
Those who can, do; those who can't, coach; those who never could, complain about the first two.
Maybe we'll get lucky and they close their campus.
This. It is up to the state legislature to decide whether or not it wants to allow them to have a law school. There are already many law schools in the state and I don't think they are ready to add another just for them.
If I am not mistaken A&M has had a medical school for years...
We obviously didnt block them from having a medical school since they have a medical school.
Courage is not the absense of fear - it is being fully aware of the fear, and deciding to go on
Texas is so far ahead of the pack in law schools that we don't care a whit if A&M has a law school. The other schools in the state do care.
Your friend is stupid, like 99.9999% of ALL ags - this is why they don't have Law & Med schools.
Yep, it's up to UT to decide who gets state and fed funding... well, the majority of State Leg is made up of Longhorns, so maybe there is some truth to that. Let them have their Vet school, at least that way they can have an excuse when fondling the sheep.
- God Bless Texas
Thank you, I will pass this on to the poor lost uninformed ag.
I think your friend was right about the domination of the Big 12, at least the aggie part of it.
General rule of thumb - anything that makes them feel even more inferior should be considered as the truth and thus further perpetuated.
Disciplina praesidium civitatis
Yeah, we REALLY don't have enough lawyers, do we?
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
If I knew how to up vote or knew if I could...I'd give you several for that!
Yes, the world is fraught with lawyers, however, not very many are that good.
Who's your Daddy?
Seriously, would anyone want to go to an aggie doctor (except aggies)? We let them have a Vet school so they could fondle sheep while pretending to exam them. Now they want a real Med school - they are just never satisfied. It was blocked in the best interests of mankind.
Actually their medical school are in Bryant College station but their clinical practice is in Temple (not Austin). They affiliate with Scott and White hospital but not Brackenridge which is a better teaching hospital (they do have few rotation at Brackenridge though). Their medical school actually has a significant smaller size class and not at the same level as UT system. In the ranking they are better than the Texas Tech medical school but not at par level as UTSW, UT San Antonio, UT Houston, UTMB. And it is true since they have medical school in near Austin, it prevents UT from getting medical school in Austin Area but part of it because we already established one in San Antonio
aggy does have a medical school. a small one. not the five branches Texas has.
aTm tried to buy South Texas School of Law. the Burnt Orange Legislature of Texas wouldn't let it happen and never will. Texas Wesleyan opens a law school but aTm can't? hmmm.
but where would all the redkneck geeks go to school....
partially true imo. Texas Tech wants to make sure they don't get one either. they have a presence in the Legislature. sorry aggy, should have behaved.
