If that is the case, then we will have at least part of the answer to the Sheldon conundrum ... to be sure, I will wait till next year before I consider it a full answer.
I think we might know during the next 8 games and Big 12 Tournament. If its not good then he may not be around..............consider this if Randal commitments then he might be the 5th option in the offense, If his ego gets in the way that might be an issue...........
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
McClellan is the exact opposite of a selfish player that would be mad if he wasn't the 1 or 2 option. The coaches have to force him to be aggressive so I think with Myck and Holmes back he'd have more room and space to score easier and he'd be fine if Myck was the alpha-dog...
I hope you are correct about his attitude..........however coaches "forced" that seems to imply Barnes et al is at fault for asking a player to be a leader and his best. I will never fault a coach or manager for demanding the best of a player or an employee.
I don't think Holmes ascends to the #2 scorer role upon his return, and while he may have said things about having practiced shooting, we are less than 3 weeks from the day he broke his hand. I'd be very surprised to see him playing against ISU on Wednesday or even KU on Saturday.
I agree completely. He almost has to have an immobilizer on his thumb; and its virtually impossible to shoot without flexibility in your thumb.
You are right in that we will probably know sooner rather than later whether to expect him back next year. What I meant was that, if he does decide to come back, it will be next year before we will know whether what seems to be wrong can be fixed. Like NYHorn's thought, it will be interesting to see if Myck's return will give him more room to roam, so to speak. I would just hate to lose him. On the other hand, until I read on the Yancy-Harris visit thread, I had not given much thought recently to the scholarship numbers. If Sheldon, for whatever reason, decided to leave, maybe Frazier fits in better, and/or Yancy-Harris for that matter, depending on how the scholarships work out
Holmes will never average more than 10 ppg at Texas...next year he may not even average 8ppg if Julius Randle comes in and takes over. If he were a little more explosive and taller, then maybe.
I am just happy to have some basketball talk other than fire Rick Barnes threads.
I like football but there is way too little basketball commentary and too much minutiae about the day to day thoughts a highschool football player from 2014 who may or not be good.
+1 Agree ......we should thank NY for providing most of the recruiting and BB insight.
