I think its fair to say there's a lot of blame to go around but it certainly seems like VY was taken advantage of in some fashion by his so called advisors.
Don't hire friends and family with no experience in player management to manage your fortune.
Maybe you missed the part about Young throwing himself a 300K birthday party. He is 100% to blame for his situation.
And people wonder why he's out of the league, even with the rising tide of "Spread option" QBs in the NFL. As much as I love the guy, has he done anything since leaving UT to demonstrate that he was mature enough and had the requisite life skills to be a highly paid professional in any industry?
If you're an Owner of a business (not just an NFL franchise) are you investing millions in a guy like this and trusting him to be the face / leader of the business? Sorry, but too much risk for too little reward.
It's not a talent issue with VY, it's a life skills issue.
SMH...I love the guy and will always root for him but WTF on God's green earth was he thinking? How do adults miss the mark by this much?
Maybe you missed the part about having a loan due for $1.7 million or the part about plenty of blame for everyone. (psstttt...that would include VY)
Yeah, this is all on Jeff Fisher, right?
Signatures are stupid. You should block them.
You cant blow $26 million of guarateed money without some help along the way and you can be as talented as he is and yet umemployed without there being more to the story about him then we hear. I mean did you see who the Bills chose as a backup QB last year? Fisher didn't help him though.
If Fisher would've just showed Vince that he cared about him more......
Damn Vince has some cheap sausage
Maybe you missed the part where everyone but this guy being sued denied that any such party existed.
I agree 100%. Hire these guys instead. Oh wait......
Wierd to think that likely within the next decade that you and I will be supporting Vince Young with each paycheck. Oh well, payback for the NC I guess.
Vince signed for the loan. One court already ruled against him.
This is entirely his fault.
Well duh. He signed for it therefore he will be liable for it. The question becomes if there was any fraud involved and it doesnt take away any responsibility from his so called advisors misleading him, lying to him and/or using him to fund their lifestyle. My guess is they did because he trusted them implicitly and was/is naive in the ways of money. Their job was to protect him from guys like themselves. That of course doesn't take away from his responsibility as an adult and grown man.
I assume what you meant to say was, "Oh, sorry, did not realize that there is a dispute over whether this birthday party thing is true. I stand corrected. However, ..."
You should reed JeezGuy's response and stop speaking in absolute terms.
I feel very strongly we can speak in absolute terms on this. This is his fault. He spent all of his money and authorized oppressive loans because he wanted to keep spending on his lavish lifestyle.
We need to ban anyone who posts threads abut VY's money problems, starting with Dave.
Not even a little funny

Players should be required to take a class in money management. There are too many stories like this. There is really no valid excuse for not watching even trusted people (or yourself) enough not to have 20+ million disappear.
Dunno why everyone's so quick to take Ronnie Peoples' word as gospel.*
You know, the POS former "financial advisor" currently engaged in a legal battle vs Vince Young over mismanaged funds? The guy whose best interest lies in convincing everybody that he didn't mismanage VY's money, that it was just wasted despite his best efforts?
*Yes I do.
