Is there a bigger douche bag coaching than Kiffin. I would be embarrassed to be a USC fan.
USC fired a student manager for deflating five game balls below regulation levels for the USC Trojans-Oregon Ducks game last Saturday, the school announced late Wednesday.

Pat Haden is no chump so I wonder what he's thinking.

Sounds like the student manager was the fall guy. Sucks to be him today.
I don't understand any facet of this story.
And it ain't like they're meeting/exceeding expectations on the field, either.
He's waiting it out, Matt Barkley likes Kiffin a lot.
I'm sort of with you.
Does it have anything to do with Kiffin's wife or not? If not, consider me tuned out...
Disciplina praesidium civitatis
From the article
Quite simply, and as you might think, a slightly deflated football is easier to grip. As a result, a football that's easier to grip is easier to throw, catch and hold. A football that's easier to throw, catch and hold is often a football that ends up getting spiked in the end zone.
Another thing to consider is the fact that college teams use their own football, meaning that in Saturday night's game, Oregon had its own set of footballs on offense and USC its own set. So, theoretically, a team could deflate its own footballs very slightly and not worry about the opposing offense catching on when it had possession.
USC was fined by the Pac-12 after a student manager had deflated game balls during Saturday's loss to Oregon.
I'll have less respect for Haden if Kiffin is te coach there after this year. It's just one thing after another. And it's been that way everywhere he's coached.
Kiffin is the biggest scumbag in all of NCAA. Plus, the guy can't coach for shit. How in the hell did they offer this joker a job? He should be cleaning pools at the YMCA.
Matt Barkley's stock is dropping every week because of his uninformed decision to stay at USC for his senior year. I still think he's the best QB in the nation, but guys like Kiffin and Les Myles are the absolute worst coaches in the nation at very good schools.
there is no way Haden would believe that this manager did this on his own and without a higher authority (AKA Kiffin) instructing him to do so. Not only that, but I would imagine it would have required some good coordination by several members of the staff to get these balls into the game in the situations where they would have liked to use them.
I'm not a Kiffen fan at all but how does this reflect badly on him ?
It's called cheating. His team effectively cheated.
I'm pretty sure the manager didn't learn to do this himself or wouldn't have done it unless a coach had told him to.
"In the report, USC said no coaches, players, staffers or administrators had any knowledge of the manager's actions"
Ya sure he was acting alone in fun?
DKR he ain't
I already had no respect for Haden when he did not fire Kiffin the day he got there. As you point out, this is nothing new for Kiffin. Haden is either naive beyond belief or willfully negligent.
OK. How's it cheating ?
Don't both teams play with the same balls ?
It is against the rules... In the link below, page FR-20
Each team chooses the balls they use when they are on offense.
