Good for them for closing it up and making the current piece of crap look a lot better.
I'm sure closing DKR is "being looked into", so all is well.
I love the overhang, its only going to make that place even louder. Dkr could use a couple of those.
That looks first rate.
that looks horrible
I have to disagree.
Wait, are these renderings, or has aTm broken ground? If not, this is not much more than being "looked into" as you condescendingly state about Texas. Shoot, I've seen renderings of DKR fully built out since I was in school 10 years ago
With that said, if aTm makes these changes to KF, it will help a lot, as KF is currently sub par
I don't keep up with it or anything, but I do know that there are plans 100% in place to expand Kyle Field. It also appears that these are pretty close to official.
If it comes close to the rendering, they need to be congratulated.
I'm guessing that's the work of a UT architecture grad... an Aggy could never imagine something that nice, let alone build it :-)
Have you seen any estimates on capacity? It looks like those renderings would push it well above 105K--upward of 120K perhaps
We're starting demo on surrounding structures this summer, will demo the first phase after the last home game this season (last 2 weeks are on the road).
Rumor is 105k, with room for 115.

A state of the art stadium in college station, is still in college station. No shade of lip stick will make that pig purdy.
Looks surprisingly like the DKR's North End Zone. Biggest question- where are the dead dogs lieing?
Gotta think they'll complete the section that's gonna list all their championships...I mean, with all the championships they keep finding, that alone should take years to complete

I heard the rings they're getting for being the real champions because they beat Bama are going to be insane.
Judging by that rendering, they are not touching 3/4 of the existing structures, which would have to be disappointing. The two sideline structures are old and lousy, and look to be staying (albeit with a prettier new outside facade), and the "Zone" is staying as is.
The only new strucutre is the south end zone, and the rest of the project appears to be just external facade clean-up.
Looks nice, but what I was hearing a few months ago was a complete tear down of BOTH sideline structures in order to build new ones, and only keeping the relatively young "Zone".
Nice looking stadium, but sounds like they chose the cheaper option by keeping both sideline structures.
No, the only thing remaining is the Zone, built 15 years ago, and the top level of the student section.
Look at the rendering. The visitor side is the same narrow triple decking that they have in place today. The "home" side is the same decking as they have in place today. If those rendering are accurate (and I don't know that they are), then they are either not tearing down the 2 sidelines structures, or (worse) they are demolishing and rebuilding the exact same aweful sidelines structures that they have in place today. Even an aggy isn't that dumb.
The South Endzone will be brand new.
The West side (alumni) will be completely demolished and rebuilt.
The lower East side (student) will be demolished and moved closer to the flied, adding suites to the top of it.
New exterior for the entire stadium.
Expanded and renovated concourses and concessions all around
Among other things.
With that structure being so vertical, that place is going to be loud. I still can not get over the cost, that is a lot of money. I still say that 95% of programs should copy what Stanford did, efficient and low cost. Every seat is a great seat.
The only part of that stadium I envy is the fact that they have natural grass and we have rubber pellets.
I'm just going to remind everyone that Baylor's new stadium on the Brazos has renderings with crystal clear water and yachts berthed adjacent to it. In other words, artistic license is likely heavily in play.
XoGisele, Ashley Sky, Niki Skyler
That's fair. But also fair to look at the renderings for Olsen Field and what was delivered. BTW, the new facade for Kyle is being built to match...thank god.
