Look. We get it. You're an absolute moron. You don't have to continually prove it through your posts.
In fairness, Tyrone hasn't had to look over his shoulder at HerpaDerp, nor run for his life every snap for the last two years.
I know you touched on it Bobby but a huge key to success for a QB is the mental aspect. Are they willing to do the work? Are they willing to listen and learn? Can they understand and react to what they see on the field during a game? Do they have the confidence to overcome mistakes and to make those around them believe? That is where I really like the early signs from Swoopes. And I love that we have Major to bring him along.
Nope, he sure hasnt. We will see if he is a gamer or not soon enough based on Macks comments. If he was a Sooner, i would want to see more than scrambles before i got excited......unless he was going to be a run only QB like Bell has been for the last year and a half.
Hey Champ, you gonna watch the OU spring game and critique our QBs?
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
Folks are talking about Swoopes having the "intangibles". That's not what I'm saying. I think his intangibles are unproven but that he at least has the make-up to put in the work to get better.

No sirree Bob, I'm no expert. Nor could I bring myself to do anything but hope for a targeted nuclear strike on Norman in the middle of that game. (I'm kidding about that last part...kinda).
He reminds me more of Cam. Powerful!
He reminds me of a QB who played one series in a spring game that people are making entirely too much of.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!

I think Swoopes intelligence, good family upbrininging and great attitude will really benefit him. I am really anxious to see how much better our Qb play is this year. Harsin didn't blow me away, that's for sure.
Thank you for your post. I hope he makes it but it is still way too early to tell. I also think the reason Mack will play him is that Heard will be here in January.
Agree it is way too early to rate the intangibles. But work ethic and willingness to listen and learn appear to be there. That's a good place to start.
It's just an overreaction/over correction by those that grew tired of hearing from the group that proclaimed he'd never see the field as a QB and would languish behind Trey Holtz at the position if he didn't move to TE.
Of course. No serious person should over-react to one series. But ...
Relative to expectations he was impressive, especially his athleticism.
His high school class hasn't graduated and he led a drive against our #1 defense (no need for the obvious jokes here). He didn't look at all overmatched.
He definitely has a level of calm and composure that are admirable for a kid his age. I've seen freshmen look a whole lot worse in that setting. Even though he only threw two balls he certainly didn't embarrass himself there.
And, yes, anyone who doesn't admit to a twinge of a flashback as he turned the corner seeming to run in slow motion with long, loping strides isn't being honest.
Who know how good he'll be but I felt more hopeful than I thought I would.

LOL. Thanks. I can't believe someone noticed my absence. (unless it was on the juicing thread at shaggybevo, where i post way too much. heh).
I would play Pryor over Ash

i am going to go on record as saying that swoopes has a long way to go before ppl should start saying he is the future, or he is the next pryor, or VY, or Cam, or whatever.
All of those great college QBs started out as freshman that had a long way to go before they could lead their team to a BCS Bowl win. That's where Swoopes is now. In fact, he's probably behind where they were, because he played for a small high school, in a crappy offense, on a crappy team.
When i mention swoopes in the same sentence as those other guys, all i am trying to say is that guys who are that large and quick have advantages over other guys. Doesn't mean that Swoopes will necessarily become as good as they were.
All we know is that Swoopes is making good progress. but he shouldn't be starting over ash. He may never become as good as Ash is. We just have to be patient.
For example, that pass from the spring game that Bobby mentioned. Does he hit that pass 9 times out of 10 in practice? 1 times out of 10? Can he hit the deep ball consistently? How does he play in the fourth quarter of big time college game? Can he play free safety? These are all questions we need answered before we should guess at whether he'll be a good QB down the road. And none of us have the first clue. So . . . MIB is right.
No need to over-react to the spring game drive unless you really did actually believe that Swoopes was slow and could barely throw a forward pass.
With all the negativity about Swoopes from this site I almost expected the ball to be thrown backwards.
If you leave again for a long period, you know what I will do? Well nothing, so stay, will ya?
Fans always love the "latest new flavor" and never learn. The last thing that the Longhorns need is another true freshman or redshirt freshman starting or #2 QB.
I almost can't believe what I'm reading here lately involving Swoopes. Look at the performances of true frosh QBs people; they don't exactly lead MNC or BCS runs.
Why the hell would you burn a QB's shirt to just be a situational guy when you have 2 or 3 other athletes that could fill that role equally or even better than an 18 yr old?
Ash is the starter, Case is the backup and Overstreet, Shipley, Gray or even Duke Thomas can run the few Wild plays a game that we were running last year. You always play the percentages and go with experience at QB, OL and DB in BIGTIME BCS Football.
We have been forced not to the last two seasons and look what it got us!!!!
Appreciate your honest opinion
Watching the spring game for the first time and I really like what Connor Brewer brings to the table. Has a hell of an arm and seems to be able to go through his progressions and lead the team down the field. Definitely didn't seem to lock on to his receivers.
Overstreet needs to begin his career as a DB at Texas soon. I was hoping RB, but he runs to high for a TB IMO.
He's a hell of an athlete, but I think we could use him in the secondary.
