McCoy was the 2nd QB in a class that at one time included Perilloux. Ryan was the QB target that season. Colt's arm wasn't that great, but his decision making and release were what set him apart.
Let's also remember that Colt had a similar set-up to Manziel. He got to play his RS-Fr. year behind an OL that had 4 NFL guys on it, plus the reserves would form the OL that Texas used in 2008-2009 which contributed to a 25-2 record.

Why in the hell would Texas recruit Johnny Turnover? Seriously?
We already have Case McCoy! Do we really need two of them?
The guy is 5 foot nothing and has a hellicopter mentality behind one of the best lines in the nation. Not to mention he played in a district full of talentless clowns.
Johnny Turnover had 3 interceptions against LSU and should have had 6.
Don't believe the hype... Ash will play in the NFL. Johnny Turnover will be flipping burgers at DQ Country.
Case McCoy isn't a pimple on Johnny Manziel's ass on his best day.
And GTFO with your NFL talk. Only thing I care about is how well the Longhorns do, and they ain't in the NFL, genius.
Are you Chris Jessie?
Oh, and watch what you say about DQ!
Are you the idiot in the 'Johnny Turnover' tshirt at the airport the other day?
Case and Johnny Turnover similarities... both the same height and weight. Both turn into a wrecked helicopter when there is any sign of pressure. Neither will even sniff a National Championship as a starting QB. Neither will play QB in the NFL.

Nope. Guess you won't answer my question even though I asked first. So here's a song I dedicate to you. Credit goes to TfT of "Your Mother Slept With Wilt Chamberlain."
Bud Light Presents: Real Men of Genius
(real men of genius)
Today we salute you, Mr. I’m a coach thanks to nepotism.
(Mr. I’m a coach thanks to nepotism)
You’ve shown us the real American dream: no skills, no future but thankfully the man banging your mom is a coach and he made you a coach as well
(Thank you mom for bangin' Mack [i edited a bit])
You stare in space during team meetings, forget when the season really starts & try to nail every cheerleader on campus.
(Roofies are my friend!)
And when you finally were allowed to stand on the sidelines during a big game, you touch a live ball.
(Hey mom I’m on TV!)
People will always wonder why you aren’t fired even though you’re “family”.
(I caught dad masturbating to Flex magazine)
So crack open an ice-cold Bud Light, Coach Nepotism. You know the way to a man’s heart…you’re mom and the guilt trip you can lay because you’re real father isn’t around.
(Mr. I’m a coach thanks to nepotism)
This is delusion rarely seen outside the likes of Texags. I'm impressed.
Blindly supporting anything Texas while blindly discounting anything not-Texas doesn't make you some great fan. It makes you a burnt orange aggy.
He'll be a great college football player, he already is, his NFL future means nothing to this discussion.
I would trade Case McCoy for him... that's about it though.
And the NFL means significant recruiting benefits at the QB position. It means more then you think.
Does Texas need more recruiting benefits or do they need to make better selections? Texas hasn't exactly capatilized on VY and what he meant to high school kids in this state.

Exactly. Maybe Chris will shutup now.
I don't know that I'd agree with that statement. I'd say accumulating the talent for the 2008 and 2009 runs was a pretty good job of capitalizing on the 2004-2005 seasons.
Well, every college football team needs more recruiting benefits.
VY, McCoy, and now Ash seem to be ok. The lone miss was Garrett Gilbert. And Gilbert made sense at the time.
Texas takes there picks of QB's in the state... I think Bomar is the only in-state kid that we didn't land.
Call it a "miss" or call it piss poor management of the postion and depth chart, but Sherrod Harris, GJ Kinne, and John Chiles also say 'hello'.
Bomar is the only in-state QB we didn't land?
Matthew Stafford ring a bell there, Chrisy?
Yep, I forgot that guy. Big miss there.
Any insight on why he didn't come to UT?
Never mind... his dad played for Georgia and he grew up there.
