Oh, come on, just because there are many thousands of dollars of rental car fees in cars that were given parking tickets on the UNC campus doesn't mean the use of those cars was being given to players as an impermissible benefit.
I'm sure there is a completely innocent explanation like . . . the cars were being used by guys who are not members of the UNC basketball team and who had driven them on campus without permit for the simple purpose of giving the members of the basketball team lots and lots of money.
See? No violation whatsoever with the cars.
UNC Wilmington is getting ready to get hammered. Poor b**tards!
Well, obviously, there is no wrongdoing. I failed to read Thomas' explanation in the last paragraph.
This should clear things up. "Thomas said July 3 that neither the NCAA nor officials from North Carolina had reached out to him to talk with him about his relationship with Hairston. He added that he is not a University of North Carolina athletic booster nor is he connected to a sports agent."
Goodness gracious! I have to renew my season tickets by the end of July ... If I do so in a timely manner, do you think I could get a rental car for a day or two? I promise not to use it for any other reason that going to basketball games!
