there's no need to set it up...just line your best athletes against theirs. quick fu*king around and do what you do best. accept that running to the sides is the best thing we do now given our oline. who cares if they are expecting it. they certainly don't give a shit about you trying to hammer it up the middle.
Waaaaay overthinking on both sides of the ball. Common denominator on both offense and defense: we come into games acting as if we have inferior talent and are at a tremendous disadvantage. If that was wrong-headed thinking against WV and OU, it's criminal against KU!

I've always wondered with the supposed talent Texas has on the sidelines, why in the world don't we dictate the action to the opposition on both offense and defense. This taking what they give you deal is fine to an extent, but at some point in Mack's 15 yrs it'd be nice to see him be the aggressor.
I don't get this at all. If they were lined up in a way that suggested they wanted to take away those plays, then punish them for that. Show the speed sweep and run a variation off of it. That's supposed to be Harsin's bread and butter.
Yes, we should have been able to line up and run the plays anyway against a team like Kansas. There is no question about that.
But if you're really sure that they are lined up to defend something a certain way, take advantage of that. That's play calling 101.
To me, it looked like KU had Harsin's tendencies down pat. They came out with a good idea of what we wanted to do and he never adjusted to account for it. It's like he didn't want to go outside of his traditional plan, which is just laziness.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!
