"Oregon State gets a standing ovation for going 9-3, and we get booed for going 8-4. So it's kind of confusing."
This is just sad. Poor Mack with the self pity and victim mentality.
SAD, depressing really......
Should add 8-4 with about a 50 point loss to your biggest rival...............yes at Texas that is not acceptable. But it does get you a hug from your AD!
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
a. Oregon State and Texas should not be held to the same standard
b. the number of wins should not be the barometer of a successful season at Texas, unless those wins include at least two of the following: 1.) a win against OU 2.) a conference championship 3.) a BCS Bowl

Mike Riley salary = $1.7M for 9 wins
Mack Brown salary = $5.2M for 9 wins
That's "kind of confusing" to me...

Just another passive aggressive swipe at the fans.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
Mack, Oregon State doesn't get the caliber of talent you do. Give your roster to Mike Riley as is and he would kill you.
If you can't handle the expectations that comes with the job, well as Dan Hawkins would say, go coach intramurals brother!
Mack Brown is an entitled, self-satisfied, semi-intelligent rube with aging monarch syndrome. We knew this. He's a pleaser and when he can't make everyone happy with what he determines are satisfactory results, he lashes out with whines and plaintive squeals demanding a reset of expectations. He'd rather do that than look plainly at his issues and work on fixing them. He can window-dress what he thinks will make some folks happy and then dig his feet in when real changes are demanded, such as the Greg Davis fight and holding on to Manny Diaz.
He's basically becoming Napoleon, the Stalin-esque main antagonist in Animal Farm. Bill Little is Squealer. John Mackovic, Muschamp, Harsin, and, frequently, the meanie fans serve as their Snowball. It's becoming almost surreal when viewing the parallels between that allegory and the unfolding decay of the Brown regime at Texas.
The good news is that his bullshit is no longer working on anyone but the weakest of the sunshine pumpers who'd follow him off of a cliff if they felt validated by a fan in doing so for the guy.
Why don't we give Mack the same resources as Oregon state and see what would happen. Maybe that would help him understand...
I would trade him straight up for mike Riley.
Want people to stop complaining? Quit. Or at least make us think you want to win by creating legitimate toughness and holding your dc accountable for, since you love stats, the worst defense in school history...
Weird psychological issues on that guy
He just doesn't get it. He's hopeless.

and this is clearly what that guy does not get. but again OU is just another game on the schedule.
Let's see. We have had what 4 straight top 5 recruiting classes. Given the first class a year y to mature- just how many times have we beaten OU in the last 3 years? Have we had a conference championship any of those last 3 years? How many BCS games have we won?
I know that I posted how the sooner board is calling for Stoops head. I suspect it would be low life of me to call for Mack's rotund posterior so I will not.

275-0 scoring margin
Dana X Bible's National Championship team
Team recruiting rankings (Rivals)
2008 Texas 14, Oregon State 52
2009 Texas 5, Oregon State 54
2010 Texas 3, Oregon State 44
2011 Texas 3, Oregon State 55
2012 Texas 2, Oregon State 39
UT's athletic department budget is near three times that of OSU, which spends less than USC, Stanford, UCLA, Cal, UW, and UO. It spends roughly the same amount as Arizona, and a little more than ASU and Colorado; however, these are total department figures.
The latest I could find on football had OSU over only Utah and Washington State in spending, but that was 3 years ago.
Just shut up, Mr. Brown.
Edit: Having now watched the interview in which the statement was made, I believe Coach Brown deserves a bit less censure than I showed above. However, to contemplate comparing OSU's situation to Texas's in a jocular effort is wrong-minded, and to insert that comment out of the blue when the subject being discussed had nothing to do with relative success at different institutions was kind of odd, even if it came on the heels of a story about a player wanting to kick everyone's ass, including that of a coach. It isn't "interesting" that 9-3 in Corvallis should merit applause while 8-4 in Austin merits derision. Both responses are thoroughly deserved given the resources at hand. Laugh all you want about the expectations being higher than your performance, Coach, but the great majority of us don't think it's funny.

Where did you read / hear this?
saw it on shaggybevo and Orangebloods. It's apparently from the LHN.
That Mack even feels compelled to make this comment is confusing.
Truly, he needs to learn when to STFU.
Needs his ass whipped for making such ridiculous comments. Little baby.
Stop listening to Mack Brown you bunch of damn babies. He was the same guy and said most of the same things when we were winning and all of you ate that shit up.

His old ass just does not get it anymore, if he ever did.
- God Bless Texas
Holy crap, Mack you've been here for 15 years and you still haven't figured out how this works? Feel free to go coach at a school like Oregon State so you can have your participation ribbons and standing ovations for making a mid tier bowl, but don't expect to make 5 million a year, it's that simple. I'm not sure I've ever seen a coach with as little self awareness as Mack Brown has right now.

LOL.. You just said it all.
No, I don't recall most people appreciating his little jabs at the fan base. Perhaps some didn't realize what he was doing, or more likely, he felt the need to make fewer of them when he was on top.
Most on this board react to insufficient quotes that justify their position versus actually watching the video that will paint the entire story. You guys are horrible!!!! I'm not a Mack fan but I will always be fair, which most on this board can't be.
