I try to keep personal stuff off of the board, but I'm damn proud of what my wife has done with the tennis program at her school. She took it over because they went through four coaches in four years and the program went neglected by and large.
Well, the extra matches and the hard work have paid off. Her boy's doubles and girl's doubles teams both advanced to the TAPPS state tournament today. They'll be playing in Waco at the end of the month.
Very proud moment for me today.
Glad to know somebody in the family has talent!
Congrats to your wife and her team!

Congrats to the wife
Congrats to all involved!
Congrats to your wife!!! Great accomplishment!!!
Now, can we get your wife on the board here as a guest so we can determine what 3 things you need to do better around the house in order for her to keep you around?? That would be great fun!!
congrats to your wife. i can relate to her situation. when I arrived at my former highschool, the tennis program was essentially non-existent, but myself and five other friends who all played and wanted a team got a teacher to "coach" and by the time we left we had all made the provincial finals multiple times. it's a great sport, I wish it was more popular among teenagers.
Congrats to your wife!!!
That's awesome Jeff! Tennis is the one sport I always wanted to play. I hope they win it all!
Coaching and teaching, when done the right way, are truly honorable professions. I feel more and more that way the older I get.

Try to survive on a teachers salary with all the extra "duty" piled on top of you and the unnecessary paper work and administrators who really are clueless about true education and one quickly learns why there is such high turnover and quality flight to positions where you can eat without taking second jobs and are judged by qualified supervisors.
Yes, I have taught in the public schools. Whether my flight was a "quality" flight or not is debatable, but I can name several others who left teaching and became multimillionaires through hard work and intelligence. Sorry to vent but it is simply the truth. One friend I have had to quit so he could get his retirement money to help put his two children through a public college here in Texas. The irony of that caused me to establish scholarships for folks who earn too much for Pell grants but still need help. Think about that a teacher, even with a working partner, can not afford to send their children to a state school like UT, Tech, etc.

Congratulations! Tennis is a wonderful sport. It was also the only sport I was actually decent at and have a chance to participate athletically in high school. I'm glad it's still being supported at the high school level.
I am with you...................in addition as I get older I've become more of a "people" fan than a team fan. Still have my favorite teams but if that team is not coached (or managed) by good people who do things the right way I am not as much of a fan. The Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs (opposite ends of the spectrum) are 2 examples for me.
Well, I was skeptical about posting this back in November. But, since Jeff started it. Here it is. Its not about sports but about a school that my wife teaches and has accomplished great things with a strong willed principle. SInce this article was released so many goals have been met. They have been labeled as a blue ribbon school. Principle was named Principle of the Year for the Central Texas area. With that, nominated for Principle of the Year for the state of Texas. Nothing but uphill for this school. I know what Jeff is feeling right now. Even though my wife comes home exhausted every day, I can not be more proud of her and what she's a part of.
Tucked in the far northeast corner of the Austin school district, Graham Elementary School is among the best public schools in Austin.
HEB is proud to honor Texas educators with its Excellence in Education Awards. See the 2012 finalists.
But can she make a good sammich?
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!

Among many talents, without question.
Good stuff Jeff. Wish I would have played tennis from jump street.
Congrats to her and you Jeff!! Where does she coach?
The proudest moments I have ever had was when a family member or significant other of mine has been "pissed off for greatness" and achieved it. Congrats Jeff.
Maybe u ask for too much.
