You have to choose between Benenoch and Billings. Who do you go with and why?
This post was edited by Longhorn in OK 22 months ago
I just watched both on the big screen and while I LOVE Benenoch's size, every play Billings is on offense someone ends up on their back. Caleb seems as though he would get beat off the edge a la Phil Loadholt.
Billings for me. We're apparently recruiting Beneoch as a Tackle and I just don't think he can play outside on the college level. I think they're both going to have to play inside and Billings is a better interior line prospect to me.
I don't think Texas would have offered if they didn't think he could play tackle.
Billings just has that look in his eyes though. Tough to describe, but I'm sure Joe Natural could help me out.
I mean,Caleb looks like every SEC tackle ever. I just think elite edge rushers would give him fits. I'd be happy with either though.
... and why.
Billings...he's just a load and mean to boot. Would love to have him at center but would be equally happy at guard. Strong as an ox and every other cliche I can think of plus I can see him getting mad ala Mason Walters at somebody.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!
- Jeff Howe
I want both, but if only one, then I choose Billings. Strength and attitude win every day.
I know we need tackles, but I'm not convinced that Benenoch is necessarily the answer. If both would end up as guards I would go with Billings.
Certainty is the enemy. I think.......
Missed that when I looked earlier, good answer.
I want RSJ, Billings, Benenoch, Luke or Bell, and the DT and DE under door number one.
What you did there I see it
XoGisele, Ashley Sky, Niki Skyler
Billings because possible DL/OL
Team Billings. Stronger and I think will be better at the college level.
I see your Schwarz is as big as mine.
Not a cop-out answer, but Texas needs both to start to establish some depth within the program.
So Jeff's going with Billenoch.
I want Billings btw
Need some more of that nasty attitude if we're gonna pound the ball for years to come.
not sure if I can handle it like you can Bandit
Nasty and Mean!! i love lineman like that. He can also play both OG/C and DT, very well.
Benenoch is good but like a few of you have stated earlier, i dont think he can play RT vs the speed ends. He can be serviceable as a RT but pretty good at OG. He doesnt bend well and i dont see the great kickback with his right leg. He has great size and could be a very good OG.
Bottom line: Mean/Nasty/Versatile=Billings!
Billings gets me most excited now because of his versatility and mean streak on the interior OL.
That being said, I love the prospects of grabbing a late blooming tackle prospect who loves the Horns and is not only f'n huge already, but is just now ready to devote himself to an offseason training regimen (per yesterdays Eyes). That has me really excited about his long term development. Since I live close to the Katy/Seven Lakes area, I hope he commits to the good guys so I can see him perform this year.
