Not sure how many of you listen to Steve Czaban in the morning but he had long-time NFL agronomist and playing field expert George Toma on the show today. Excellent interview. Steve's been wondering aloud why Dan Snyder did not re-sod Fedex Field in advance of the Redskins playoff matchup with Seattle. It is, and has been, an incredibly poor playing surface for some years.
Steve gets an answer. If I were the NFL I would be embarrassed. Especially when George said the problem in NFL groundskeeping is "corruption".
Thought it interesting he described the BCS turf as a premium Bermuda blend grown on "plastic". I would like to see DKR move back to natural turf. Wonder if this is on Bellmont's radar?

Wouldn't count on it, "we" just put it in a few years ago and one of the main reasons was to host high school play off games at DKR
which hasn't happened. at least not to the degree that made the switch worthwhile. the only hs games i can even recall being played since the turf went in are the westlake/lake travis early season matchups. have they even played any playoff games there?
watching lee/eishenhower and lee/westlake there was pretty badass.
Luckily the current turf at DKR continues to use the Okie State orange tone for our endzones and the Horn logo on the 50. Just amazed that a school with our Athletic Dept profits can't afford real grass in the football stadium and actual dirt sliding pits on the bases at the Disch.
