Had to. Can't live without the Longhorn Network any longer. Verizon Fios is available in my area, so I made the switch.
Fantastic picture (uncompressed signal make a difference apparently), better & more programing than DirecTV - and of course, The Longhorn Network 24/7.
BTW, loved the phone call to DirecTV to cancel my service. I have been a loyal subscriber since 1994. The guy tried to give me everything not to switch - but in the end, I told him the Longhorn Network was a deal breaker. I went on about how they had a year to work out the kinks and he better get used to this kind of calls from my Horn buddies.
I have been watching the Longhorn Network for a little over a week now. Outstanding! The documentaries about the history of Longhorn sports are without peer. Baseball games, replays of great aggie and sooner football victories. Just flat out great.
Here is to wishing for you the same. Hook'em
The sweet side of DKR
Congratulations!! Here's hoping we all have these options in some form or fashion soon..,
Just go ahead and sling copious quantities of sodium chloride on our lacerations.
Fios: Great picture, shitty DVR.
Or so it would seem. Can't find anything for Fios that will hold a candle to the DirecTV H-24.
anyone know if VFios will be making it into the cedar park area? I live very near CPHS and haven't been eligible for years...
Hah. Salt in the wound. Love it.

Question:............ What is the Longhorn Network???
"Don't know. Never had one"

Its a myth, kinda like Bigfoot and shit like that.
Have you told Longhorn in OK about this?
Where do you live Orangehouse?
just jacking with you. "sling copious quantities of sodium chloride on our lacerations" sounded like some ESL translation.
It's that obscure network that hid the Orange-White Game away from hundreds of thousands potential viewers ...aargh.
Hook 'Em! ...'til early in the morn.
Meh. I watch it even though I don't have it on my guide. In the long run,our equipment is far superior and with all of the awesome programming, 400 hours of DVR space is really handy. We'll get it.
The HR34 is sick. 5 tuners,RVU technology,400 hours of recording space. Check it out sometime.
The Fios DVR is indeed crummy !! Love the programming and Longhorn Network but hate the DVR. But, hate to say it, but the LHN coverage of the orange-white game was pretty bad. They just couldn't shut up and let us see the game. I attended in person and DVR'd to watch again at home. You missed a lot.
The 300.00 price tag is the only thing that sucks about them. I hope they come down soon.
It'll happen eventually. It's new. You know how that goes.
Plano. Verizon Fios is available in most of Plano - although not at work. Thank God, I've never get anything done!
I don't care about the $300. Does it work with Fios?
EDIT - never mind, I see now that it's a DirecTV DVR. The HR24 is fine for me for now, but the next time my wife is out of town I'll probably buy a couple (I don't cheat on her with other women, but with expensive electronics purchases).

I want that dang network
I got the HR34 on my last upgrade and I think it's worth it. Scheduling conflicts never happen now and my receivers run faster because of free'd hard drive space. Let me know if you have any questions. I get pm's all the time.
