Tiger Woods cards another fine round to charge up leaderboard at The Players Championship
From the blog Devil Ball Golf: There are courses where Tiger Woods can shoot sub-70s rounds blindfolded with left-handed clubs. Augusta National fits into that category, as does Pebble Beach. TPC Sawgrass, site of this week's Players Championship, most assuredly does not. Woods regards Sawgrass with … Continue reading →

"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
"The stage is set for an epic Saturday at Sawgrass, where two men with a lot of history - Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods - are in the final pairing."

Weather could get iffy this afternoon. Always a great tournament to watch from 14-18 on the weekend, especially 17 and 18 -- of course.
National Director of Scouting & Recruiting Analyst
Sergio Garcia -11 (won it before)
Tiger -10 (won it before)
Kuchar -7 (defending champ)
Hunter Mahan -7
Adam Scott -7 (won it before)
Zach Johnson -7
Webb Simpson -6
Rory McIlroy -6
and others within five shots of the lead makes for a a great Saturday/Sunday.
And a cool 1.71 million to the winner.
& Lee Westwood with a swing & a miss...complete whiff
Every time Tiger makes some noise on a leader board he gets props on the message boards. How many times has he finished the deal in a major in the last 5 years. Just curious.
Stenson, another former winner, at -11 entering the weather delay
Sooo good thing the Players Championship isn't a major.
Really? Major smack? Really?
It's how he will ultimately be compared to Jack.
I have LOL'ed about/at Sergio for over a decade, and yesterday was more of the same.
Golf on that stage is very tough mentally, but man he takes it to another level totally IMO.
Bubba Watson is close. Luckily for him, the major is already on the resume.

That's true GH...Sergio's had problems with other players EU over the years, much less Tiger, starting @ the Ryder Cup & then the US Open @ Bethpage in NY...& on & on & on
Tiger's tied with Garcia and Lingmerth for the lead at -11 after the finished the second round this morning. There are seven players within two strokes of the lead and 12 within four. Should be a helluva finish.
The meant to be part of it makes Ryan Palmer a guy to watch today IMO.
Or someone will likely be a two time winner of The Players - Tiger, Stenson or Sergio. Not a big list if one is to join it.
After bogeying two of the first eight holes yesterday, Ryan Palmer played four under the rest of the round -- including birdies on two of four holes today -- to put himself one behind the leaders at -10. I guess I had read the news coverage this week, so I just saw the story below this morning:
Palmer received a call Thursday evening with the news that his best friend, Clay Aderholt, was killed in a car wreck in San Antonio earlier that night.
“[We go back to] grade school, junior high [Bonham Middle School] , all-stars, baseball, basketball, high school [Amarillo High], even went to [Texas] A&M, as well,” Palmer said. “All the way back as long as I can remember.
“I got a call from my financial advisor who lives in his neighborhood and he told me what happened. It was a restless night to say the least.”

Hard for me to see Palmer winning this tournament with his emotional state...maybe a smaller tournament but not TPC...if Palmer can overcome his personal loss & win today, will show a great deal
One player in or near the lead will shoot 75...& another will shoot 68...most everybody else will shoot near even for the day...IMVHO

I think you're right. It was promising that he went out there this morning and did what he did. But I think it's going to all hit him this afternoon when he looks at that leaderboard and the galleries are all full.
So why pick a 5 year timeframe?
How about Ryan Palmer? After seemingly playing himself out of it with three straight bogies, he's come charging back with three straight birdies to sit two back of Tiger.
Come on Sergio...let's go 3 for 3
This tournament never fails to bring unreal drama
Rumor out of TPC...as Sergio was on 17 tee about to hit, he heard the crowd applauding Tiger as he walking down 18 fairway...he's pissed
Stupid tee shot from Sergio on 17. No way should he have been aiming there knowing a par would still keep him tied for the lead. Center of the green was the line. The kid playing with him, by all means go for it being a shot back with 18 being an almost impossible birdie. Sergio on the other hand choked big time on that one. Poor line.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
Agreed. Doesn't really matter to me whether they call it a Major it or not. The final holes guarantee an exciting finish.
Golf at the highest level is a cruel, cruel game man.
Nothing else like it from a mental perspective in sport.
Yep, really was stupid decision...no reason to try to play that shot...& then again
The shot to play was middle of the green & have move down to the hole...but Sergio tries to play the impossible, & puts up a quad
