I've been asked a few times this week and Mack Brown was even asked on Monday if Texas recruited TCU freshman DE Devonte Fields.
Mack said they did, that's true. However, Texas could have done all of the recruiting of Fields they wanted to and wouldn't have mattered.
As best I know it, Devonte Fields simply didn't like Texas. One of the first phone conversations we had right after I found out Texas had been by Martin, Fields told me that he grew up an Oklahoma fan and wasn't too keen on any attention Texas showed him.
He was invited to the first junior day that year and didn't show. He was re-invited to the second junior day and also didn't show.
Credit TCU for getting on Fields early because even when Oklahoma came in the picture Fields felt OU came in too late.
I remember one time asking him late in the recruiting process if Texas ever tried to get back on him. He laughed and said "I wouldn't listen if they did".

Prepare for Horns Down
Sorry but you're wrong. Mack Brown was too lazy and its all his fault Devonte didn't come to Texas.
Scares Mack to death
Need a tissue?
I'm sure you're right. It rained the other day, and I'm pretty sure that was Mack's fault, too.
It was pretty clear throughout his recruitment that Devonte just had no interest in Texas. It happens sometimes especially if they are from the northern part of Texas and have a facination with OU. He's a great player and TCU got themselves a good one.
Now us not offering Von Miller when he would have committed to us is another story, and a familiar one where marginal players are offered during camp. 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.
your posts are as lame as your basketball skills
I personally saw him doing a rain dance on the field at DKR.
sucks b/c kid is a BEAST.
I thought weather related problems were the cause of Bush's machine?
Yes he is and the guy at the other end for them is good also. Concerned they will give our OL trouble. Guess we will see how good David is under heat.
I'm guessing we see some more designed runs for Ash keep them from getting too far upfield
Based on our tackle pass pro. thus far this year, I'm more worried about pressure coming up the middle (namely, over Mason Walters). Ash has been sacked/pressured very few times this year--thank God. Most of the "busts" have been right up the gut of the line. In fact, aside from pressure from a couple of overload blitzes that OU ran involving safeties or nickel backs (and other teams have copy-catted), I can't think of any time one of our tackles has been straight up beaten by a DE.
