Baseball has won the conference (or tournament) from 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, and 11.
Have any other schools in the Big 12 won a NC since 06? We have played for them (baseball and football) and should have played for another football NC in 2008.
Tell me 5 schools that are doing better than UT. I dare you.
I could care less about 5 other schools. And by the way, if you want to discuss without being a dick all the time, great. If not, put me on ignore and I'll do the same.
I, to, have been to a lot of games(since the 70's). I, to, will support the team either way. Although I would have liked to have seen Mack step down after last season if the right coach were to have been available, he did not (or the right coach was not available); regardless, Coach Brown, who has done great things for this university, is the coach and I will support him as well and truly hope that the team does well under him. In fact, I am cautiously optomistic about football; basketball and baseball, not so much
I agree that some of the truly hatefull speech on this board has gone far overboard, but for someone to state that negativity is unwarranted at a program like Texas after the results of the last 3 years is simply being unrealistic. Negativety in an organization has its' place. Negativity can, and I believe has had a positive effect on the running of the football program. Improvements have been made due in large part to negativity. I will be at DKR in the fall supporting the program, but the support will not, nor should it be blind support.

Why compare apples and oranges. Texas is suppose to be the brand. The LHN. One of the top rated school in the nation. The Joneses. Why compare to Baylor. You might as well compare our titles to Kansas or Texas Tech. How about the top 5 schools in the nation over the last 8 years. Aren't we suppose to be one of the top 2 or 3 best schools to coach at. I noticed you avoided conference titles to OU who are in our conference and some people say is trailer park U.
Texas is "the brand"... that's why they have more than double the conference championships of any team in the Big 12 since it started. Baylor is 2nd and that's where the relevance with bringing them up resides.
Kansas and Tech have a total of 39 between the two of them, so Baylor was a better example. OU owns a total of 44 conference titles. They are even worse than Baylor
UT athletics is dominating the Big 12 since it was formed. That's a fact
Accomplishments in minor sports are just smoke screen for the elephant in the room, which at UT is football. No matter how Bellmont tries to rationalize it, only 2 conference championships in 15 years is simply not Texas good. Neither is winning only 33% of our games against Top Ten opponents, or setting the D-1 record for most 35-point losses in a major rivalry.
The articulate Scipio Tex has a excellent piece on Bellmont Hall's performance on Barking Carnival:
So we are only a regional school? Comparison only to our conference. I thought we were suppose to be a national brand, my bad. I thought we were one of the top few schools in the nation because of our money and recruiting advantage. I thought we were with the LSU's, Alabama's, Florida's and The Ohio State's and USC's. I didn't understand we were limited to the Big 12-2.
I'd like to suggest a feature to the mods that allows a mass alert to be sent when Chupita starts posting.
Tell me ONE school that has more recruiting advantages than UT. I dare you.
If Dodds needs to let go of anything it Mack "2 conference titles in 35 years as a head coach" Brown
Yes Chupita, Texas is "the brand." Unfortunately, the brand is 'owned' by Kansas State, who by the way is unhappy that their asset is losing value. True or not, the national media is reporting that "the brand" has been surpassed in its' own state. Must be nice to see no problems.
I, like most everyone else, do not understand the aggy mind.(if any).
To say that the aggy want to keep playing Texas, is most illogical. Who, in their right mind, would to resume playing against an opponent whom they have won against only 31% of the time?
Dodds runs the entire AD, right? All sports fall within the AD if that's the case. 1 National Championship win, 2 competed in, and a 3rd that we were screwed out of. That is right up there with only elite teams. 2 undefeated seasons. 6 or 7 top 10 finishes.
Scipio is a creative writer - nothing more. Some dude that has opinions and articulates them on a blog to impress his clones. Opinions are like assholes, and everyone has one. He's a Kirk Bohls wannabe that is less entertaining than a fart in wind.
I love your entitlement attitude, despite verifiable proof -- the fact is, I've been alive since the 70's and I remember 2 opportunities in my lifetime that UT had an chance to win a NC. Failed both times. Then, in the last 15 years I've seen them win one and play for one. Should have played for a 3rd if they weren't screwed by politics.
You stick to your negative stats, and I'll continue to stick with the positives of having a football program that is the 3rd winningest program in the last 15 years and the only one of the top 3 that hasn't been busted for NCAA rules violations.
How does one prove such an opinionated statement? A&M seems to have better facilities and better fan support at this time. That according to some recent recruits.
What kind of question is that? All the top schools have great facilities, and that is a huge recruiting advantage.
Kansas won a NC in basketball and Baylor the same with their women's team. Others have won them in other sports - some still in the conference, some not.
Stanford, Alabama, Florida, and Ohio State come to mind immediately as programs doing better than Texas. A&M's AD is on its way to finishing higher than Texas for the 3rd out of four years, but you already knew that.
Flip the question
With things as they stand today (current perception, recruiting trend, etc), wouldn't Texas gain more from beating A&M than any other team on the schedule at this point? And I know some of you are going to lose your panties screaming no OU would. But fact of the matter is with the perception of the SEC, the reigning HTW at QB, and a revival of a 100 year tradition would be better bragging rights/national exposure than a win in Dallas.
If the game is almost a guaranteed win like you claim (69%), why wouldn't Dodds want to play them? If I'm the Texas AD and know of an almost "guaranteed" win with that type of exposure and perception benefits then I'd be giving money away to play them. If for nothing else than to flip the instate recruiting momentum.
although I'm not here to get in a pissing match, feel free to bash away.
When hell freezes over, I might say play aggy again. In the meantime I will continue to hate them like hell.
aggy has everything to gain if we play them. We have nothing to gain at all. Everyone knows we are the superior school.

You won a total of two Lone Star Showdown trophies, the last being 2008/2009. Agy math?

Is chupita echeese? Because his arguments make about as much sense. DeLoss and Mack Brown are your guys if you have low expectations.
