Any opinions about David Shaw of Stanford as possible HC at Texas. His defense shut down USC and Oregon, tough physical offense and defense, clean program good recruiter.
Would. Move the needle?
Not an option.
Will believe it in two years when further away from Harbaugh's influence. I tend to think that there are still hold-over benefits still in play from the program that Jim built. Time will tell.
He's a good young coach. I think there are better options.

Would love to see it.. Just don't think the higher ups are ready for an African American head coach
He seems like a good guy and he's probably a good coach but I don't feel like he's got that edge that we need in a head coach right now. Maybe I'm making the same mistake that GMs in the NFL make when they fire a "players coach" and bring in a disciplinarian. This usually only pays dividends for a year two before the act gets old but it seems like the culture of the program needs to shift.
Time to get over it.
In two years as a HC he has half as many conference championships as Mack Brown does in his entire career. He's also been voted the PAC12 coach of the year twice.
He's a better option than Mack Brown and that is really what we're talking about.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!

I would like to see more mention of Franklin at Vandy. Vandy way win 9 games this yr. Franklin has them in bowls 2 straight yrs. I believe he has a class rated in the top 20 this yr. The job he has done has been amazing. I also believe his recruiting chops make him a very low risk choice, because you know even if his coaching chops are not quite there he will load up on talent.
This sentiment, alone, shows why Sumlin's success at A&M could really hinder Texas' ability to reign in whoever they want in the state of Texas. I'm not too worried though.
Shaw is doing a great job at Stanford. He has a pretty good gig right now.
You're just wrong about that IMO.
If that's the number one criteria, the interns are going to be up really late going through all these resumes.
Not going to happen! Did you see the 31,000 that attended last night - PAC 12 is a joke!
Yeah I thought it about that after I posted. He's also an A+ option versus other candidates.
Bobby I value your opinion so I'm glad you feel that way.
If being a better option than Mack Brown is the criteria, the list will never end....
If I remember correctly Jeff mentioned one of his sources echoed the same sentiment when someone mentioned Charlie Strong's name.
Gary Patterson has head coach.
Major as OC.
