He played some DE on his highlights, has surprisingly mobility, and amazing explosion. With several other great OG candidates to choose from, would Searels and the staff consider trying him at DT?
Too valuable along the OL. He's Searels' guy.
Not sure but I think James is more of a possible candidate to play center.
A few things:
1) He might be the best player in the state.
2) He could easily play DT and has the disposition you look for to play it.
3) Texas needs that kind of nasty disposition on offense.
He's playing OL.
I want James at Center!
C James, G Walters, G Hopkins, T Harrison, T Hawkins
DT is a more important position than almost any other except for QB, because it can limit an offense's play selection and rhythm. Too much of James' explosiveness would be wasted at Center, and he'll likely be a G, if he stays on offense.
I would like to see him start at Center this year, and then move to Guard next. I agree that he will eventually play Guard at UT and in the NFL.
Give Raulerson a chance to eat some hamburgers in 2013 and then move to Center next year.
Just think that Center is a position of need this year, and James could fill a big void against big DT's.
this is the logic that had Texas offer RG3 at Safety. Kid maybe the top interiorOL in the country. He is not near the best interior DL in the country. Let him play the position where he can be one of the best in the country.
Searles shouldnt have to pick up after Davis, Diaz, and Mack's horrific recruiting and lend him his best OL prospect.
No way Searles let's that happen. He shouldn't have pay for Bo Davis whiffs.
Besides, DJ is the type of monster along the OL we've been lacking.
I've seen James and Flowers names thrown out there. If there was dire need than fine but robbing Peter to pay Paul is not a good strategy. Plus the offensive line still doesn't have ideal depth so you'd be creating anther problem without really solving anything on the other side in my opinion.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!

Lot easier to sell a position when the overall defensive scheme works and is conducive to helping your players make plays. Tolleson was no giant on the recruiting trail, but he got more than his fair share of talented DTs.
Darrell Wyatt had no such issues landing WRs last year despite fielding an abysmal offense. Manny deserves a share of the blame sure but at the end of the day A'Shawn was ultimately Bo's responsibility.
Plus you can replace this year's bungling with JUCO DL in the 2014 and 2015 classes. No doubt we're headed that way.
Lack of salesmanship or effort on the part of Bo Davis is not why we lost Robinson. It came down to a comparison of programs. None of our coaches can overcome the unfavorable matchup between Nick Saban's stable program and consistent championships, and Mack Brown's unstable program and lack of championships.
