You beat me to it. Must be because I used a longer title.
What a shot! From at least 8 feet being the arc.
And he hits another!

Very typical of Self coached teams in the tournament.
and I was shocked that this was Pitino's 11th Sweet 16. I thought it would be closer to 20.
That's the effect of a pair of hiatuses in the NBA totaling 6 years and 2 years of being ineligible for the tournament after taking over from Eddie Sutton.

At the game. Was awesome.
All the KU fans have cleared and looking like a small crowd for game 2.
No ones left.
Terrible venue for basketball by the way.
Seats were in the club (no beer allowed to be sold) and found it easier to move to the end and watch the video screen.
Probably be just as small on Sunday.
Plus ten years at Louisville with only two week-ends. But its much easier to rebuild at Kentucky than it is at the "Ville". Injuries in the 2010 and 2011 really hurt him. But this looks like his year at this point. Smith is just a great college point guard, plus great depth. Imagine how many rings he would have if he had stayed in Lexington.
Oh boy, FGCU up 11 just 6 minutes into the game.
I don't know how long Florida can keep missing shots in the paint, but they've missed a ton so far. 19-9 FGCU with 7:13 left in the first half and UF about to shoot FT.
Still up 10, 13 minutes in.
But now Florida has taken over with a 16-2 run. You can't live on hopes of making all your shots and your opponents missing all theirs while you are making a ton of turnovers and letting them get offensive rebounds at will.
The bottom did fill back up. Not as big as the Ku-Michigan crowd though.
Behind the goals was empty on both sides for the first game.
30-26 at the half.
I am not saying Barnes is a better coach at all but, Self with his pick of talent each year? Goodness!
I'm surprised by how easily Duke handled Michigan State. Should make for a very interesting regional final against Louisville. If any team in the country can handles Pitino's pressure defense, its Duke.
Goes to show more than anything how the tournament is always filled with upsets and one seeds going down, which is why I tend to look at conference finishes as a better measure of coaching ability.
Final record for the Big 12 was 3-5. Not a good year for the conference, and next year may be just as bad or even worse. A lot of talent will be leaving. Other than KU and Baylor, the conference doesn't seem to have great classes coming in. OSU, WVU and ISU have good classes, but not a lot in the way of immediate impact star talent.
Kansas was not a great team this year. They had a very good scorer in Mclemore and a great interior defender in Whithey; but there was a substantial drop off after those two. Self didn't have a true point on this team; and other than Whithey were small on the interior.
Epic meltdown going on right now.
Wichta State was able to overcome some very questionable officiating that allowed Ohio State to come back from a 20 point deficit. Would hate to see the Shockers get screwed after ISU was screwed earlier against these guys.
Every time they threw it in to Ohio St power forward and he moved it was a foul in the last 10 minutes. On the other side guys were getting slammed with no call. I was like nobody wanted to see Wichita State in the final four.
