Mods, I don't like to get banned. And I appreciate your job is to make this a place for fans of the Longhorns.
My question is if we can discuss recent coaching hires in the context of their former affiliations?
Obviously I am not a mod, but could you elaborate a bit on your question? Are you talking about where some recent hires have come from, like the SEC, or maybe Alabama? Your inquiry is intriguing, and I am interested in hearing more about what you are alluding to and seeing where the ensuing discussion might go.
Yes, Larry Porter was at one time in cahoots with Willie Lyles.
Gun shy are ya? Our mods are not trigger happy like the ones for the aggs.
Yes, Sumlin was at one time in cahoots with Bob Stoops.
I thought "sin miedo" meant without fear.
Sin surely even you are not this dumb. If you would post something other than negative comments about the mods here,Texas coaches (or players), HookEm members then you don't have to worry about being banned. Your history is to post comments attempting to jerk our chain.
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Name should be changed to Sin Miedito.
Thanks WildBill. Pretty much the point.
I dunno that Porter ever did anything wrong but the relationship is documented. And now Texas is hiring guys from the SEC Overlord to manage it's recruiting operations.
I guess I'm just throwing it out there that maybe it's time for some to look beyond what is described as "SEC recruiting tactics" and accept that a lot of schools have just been getting out-worked.
And yes, Sin Miedo is the Spanish translation of my Gaelic family motto. But I like to think I was posting with respect, not fear. Ha.
Or maybe it's a case of when in Rome...
I don't believe anything shady is going on, mainly because of the fact that we would have better results. It would be just too depressing if we were paying players and sucked. Haha
Or probably "Sin Pene"
Texas hiring coaches from the SEC is not new, just ask Auburn.
Texas didn't just begin hiring people from the SEC. Hell Mack has done that since he's been here, starting with his first defensive coordinator.
The wheel is invented....I mean...we went over this when we hired porter.
I say we ban Sin. Let's take a vote.
I'll go first.
And I really wasn't trying to be an ass. I'm just not part of the VIP convos here.
I've got an idea. Let's have a vote to see who all thinks Sin Miedo should be comp'd a VIP membership:
......Remember the words from The Bible........"...the wages of sin is death....".....so that would be fitting.
Then it's settled. We just put him to death.
I'd say "aye!",
but every time you come around you be hollering that
He say, she say, oh my God
Let's make a deal...
We agree to talk about Porter & possible Lyles stuff...if aggies agree to talk about Matt Davis & possible Lyles stuff as well as RSJ on the take
If you're looking for a place of discussion, I hear the guys over at shaggybevo are real welcoming of outsiders. Especially ones from college station.
I like ole Sin. Reminds me of an aggie Bierce. Good mix of wit & substance, even if he's an Ag!
Regarding the hire(s): Mack has run a clean ship... Too a fault.
No way Mack hires him with a guilty conscience. Not saying Porter's clean, but simply that between the two all dirty laundry has been aired and cleaned.
Other hires have simply Mack trying to take an ingredient of success. Bo Davis has underwhelmed while here, but Bama D-line was stout while he was there. He's got a lot to prove this year, imo. Suddes has a connection to Bama, but nothing negative. We've been bringing in SEC coaches consistently since Chizik.
Obviously, and in some ways unfortunately, Mack realizes that SEC is la creme de la creme. He's not stooping to new lows or turning a blind eye. He's simply piggy backing off those that have found success.
The problem is that Mack is a trend follower, not a trend setter.

Let's be more specific, Porter was LSU's bag man. It's a surprising move, and no, the notion of Porter and LSU just having out worked everyone to get guys doesn't carry any water.
I am rooting for the O'bannon case to end the notion of amateurism in college sports. It is clear the NCAA is dickless with enforcement and the schools with power who skirt the rules can do so with impunity. So let's end the charade, remove the stigma, and let Texas show the market what meeting a payroll really looks like. Right now, what's done in the dark rules the day.
The "outworked" concept is revisionist history leveraging a now clearly obvious fat and lazy Texas staff and incompetent ATM staffs under Sherman and Franchione. Yeah, some groups just did it better, but elements like buying Patrick Peterson and Terrance Toliver had nothing to do with competence or effort. Sorry.
Matt Davis? That's a new one.
Anyway, thanks keeping it civil. Just thought it was interesting.
And if it's okay with you Chuckie, I'll pass on that invitation. Ha.
Straight to hell with the rest of your cheating-ass aggy clan.
