Yeah I'm not seeing it. I was surprised to see his name even mentioned in this.
QB Garrett Gilbert (6-3, 220, 4.78)
Big, athletic QB who transfered from Texas in '12 and started all 13 games for the Mustangs, compiling 3,278 all-purpose yards and 23 total TDs (15 passing, eight rushing). Accuracy has been the biggest issue as he completed only 53 percent of his passes and threw just as many interceptions as touchdowns (15).
CB Kenneth Acker and SS Jay Scott head the class as two key returning members of a unit that ranked third in all of college football in total takeaways and posted two shutouts last season.

NFL people are so stupid, that its impossible to predict what they will do, but no.
If he has a solid season and good to great combine showing then he could be a last day pick. The weight scouts put in the combine today changes everything. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Im sure he is just one of those guys that just doesnt get it in college, but once in the NFL everything will just CLICK for him.

The SEC of signatures....
The word "athletic" must be a loose term in that description.

Gilbert has a NFL body but thats as far as it goes
They're previewing SMU as a whole. It isn't like they've got a lot of other choices to use as filler.
This kind of stuff is as reliable as when some kid goes in as an NFL as a free agent and in the first week there's some story talking about how a kid who was a space filler at UT is "looking to make his mark" and the position coach says a positive thing or two.
Two weeks later he's cut.....
Which means some NFL GM will use a draft pick on him.
Things are changing, but the meat market mentality in the NFL is still quite strong, and there's no shortage of hubris with some of the staff up there that think they can mold dud to stud if he just has the measurables.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
I think the only way Gilbert sees the combine is if hes one of the QBs thats throwing during the gauntlet drill or throwing to DBs on the last day
XoGisele, Ashley Sky, Niki Skyler
Unless he goes in and has a great Senior Bowl because that can garner some momentum going into the combine.
Yeah I realize that, but judging from what we've seen, I don't believe he should even be mentioned.
I would be really, really surprised if he got a combine invite. He might catch on as a FA somewhere for awhile though (but not make the team). He does have a strong arm and always beasted 7v7 tournaments so I bet someone gives him a look.
Never say never but his career TD:INT ratio is horrific:
28 TD 38 INT
Is he better than Tebow?
Not at building fanfare, anyway.
He's at least as athletic as the average NFL QB. Terrible accuracy and touch, though, even at SMU.
While I believe GG is not good, I will give him credit for the last 2 games I saw him play late in the season last year at SMU. He performed in a very non-GG kind of way. Maybe he finally turned the corner

thanks OP. I really needed a good laugh today.
Its the NFL. "Athletic" mean more mobile than Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
As long as Jerry Jones is running the Cowboys draft, NOBODY should be surprised if Garrett Gilbert is drafted, IMVHO...in fact, I would not be surprised if JJ drafted UP to get GG
Depends on how he does this year. Kids get drafted straight off physical "talent" all the time. If Rhett Bomar can get drafted, Garrett Gilbert can get drafted.
