How do you think this leaves you with Barrett?
"Release Me Cuhhhhhhhh"
With tight numbers for 2013 and taking 2 QBs last class, I imagine we are done.
My guess is Barrett doesn't come to JD2
I agree. While Gerry said its not out of the question that we take another QB, I just don't see it if we have limited scholarships available for this class, especially after taking 2 last class and Ash being only in his 2nd season. I understand Overstreet is projected as an athlete so he could play elsewhere but I still don't think we take 2.
I'm hoping we do offer Barrett and he commits. I don't know what the staff is thinking but I could see both QBs on the 40.
McCoy is going to get passed on the depth chart and could transfer after this spring.
Barrett imo looks better but obviously swoopes has all kinds of upside. I just feel like you guys have too many awesome receivers to take a QB who may be a liability passing without taking another. I hope the ducks get Barrett but really don't know anything about his recruitment.
I don't think he'll get passed on the depth chart. Ash is one, McCoy is two, Overstreet possibly runs the wildcat, and Brewer redshirts.
I still think we take 2 this year...but I don't think Barrett or Thomas want the competiton.
Cody is most likely a MLB prospect.
- God Bless Texas
I don't think Barrett or Cody will want to come with 2 qbs in the same class. I think it leaves us on the outside with him
If that's true, via con dios.
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
I think if we can take Barrett too, our staff gets it done. I think if Barrett doesn't want to compete, it will be just Swoopes. The numbers are simply too small to use two schollies on QBs if the two aren't Swoopes and Barrett. Just my opinion.
Are you guys of the opinion that Barrett is better now or also has the better upside?
depends on who you ask. personally, i think barrett is better now but swoopes probably has a little more upside.
My inexperienced opinion is that this is correct if you drop the "a little".
ya probably true. i was hedging
Ya. I'm sure your 2012 class of receivers are hoping you guys get Barrett as well
I'm slightly worried about taking 2 developmental guys in back to back classes. Think Harris and Chiles.
Ash has 3 years left, through 2014. If Brewer shirts, he has 4 years, 2013-2016. That leaves plenty of time to develop a guy with natural ability before he has to play. If experience has taught us anything, it is that nobody gets the luxury of stockpiling top QBs.
How many high school QBs aren't "developmental guys"? Be honest. 99.9% of them are. VY sure didn't set the woods on fire as a freshman.
