Below from ESPN (yesterday & today)...
"Once the Houston Texans selected Ohio State wide receiver Devier Posey in the third round of the NFL draft, the team immediately made it known veteran Jacoby Jones is available for trade according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter."
"Early speculation is that Houston may consider trading Jones to a wide receiver starved Cleveland franchise, and quarterback Colt McCoy could be the return compensation. McCoy could come in and compete with T.J. Yates as the Texans' primary backup."
"The Browns used a first-round pick on Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden on Thursday, making McCoy expendable. The Packers, who need a backup after losing Matt Flynn in free agency to Seattle, have a sixth-round pick and three seventh-round selections to use as bait. Packers HC Mike McCarthy attended the pro days of Oklahoma's Sam Bradford and Texas' McCoy and came away impressed."
"McCoy may or may not be a better backup to Aaron Rodgers than Graham Harrell, but it appears that if the cost to find out is low, the Packers could be interested in finding out."
clearly, Colt and Brad need to come to grips that, at this moment in time, the League sees him as a back-up. And, it seems, most teams don't see him as a clear number 2...he is going to have to come in and beat out other back-ups for the number 2 spot, regardless of where he ends up. I don't see that he is a clear winner if he competes with T.J. Yates in Houston...Yates looked decent as a rookie and won a playoff game...regardless, perhaps in 2-3 years, he'll develop and be able to compete to be the guy for a franchise.
What's the point of the Browns trading McCoy? He's very cheap--a lot cheaper than Seneca Wallace. The Browns won't have to bring in a new guy to start now while Weeden gets in tune with the system.
Thought the same thing but I really believe the Browns are tired of Brad McCoy ......plus they (Browns) are not very smart
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Which would seem to me to put the onus on Colt to tell his dad to sit down and shut up or he'll get his son blackballed from the league.
The problem Colt has is his history of concussions...in Dec last year, Peter King was on NBC Sports Talk discussing the "Colt McCoy Rule", about diagnosing concussions & having Dr's on the sidelines after Colt's hit from James Harrison
King stated the Browns believe that was Colt's 6th concussion going back to his Sr year in HS...King stated that inside the Browns org, including Holmgren, their mgmt was concerned about the long-term problems these concussions are gonna have on Colt

Didn't realize the concussion problems except the one from the end of last season. But that still doesn't explain why they tell Colt on Thursday morning they wouldn't draft a QB in the first round and then did a 180. Is it possible Brad McCoy is the source and is not telling the truth about the Thursday morning meeting?
That's what I like - all facts and no rumor mongering...
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
52........we will be sure to run our posts past you from now on so you can edit and fact check the information. Will that make you feel better?

Wow never knew Brad McCoy had so much power now at the pro level also.....trust me this is not an issue.
When you just make stuff up out of thin air and post it on the internet, some folks might get just a wee bit sarcastic with you.
Didn't make anything up at all. You seem to live in LALAland if you haven't seen references to Brad McCoy not only by me be others. I will also say again one of the reasons David Carr left Houston was a bad OL,immaturity and his Dad. So it does happen........
ESPN reported all day Friday (in fact it was the major story of the draft) that Colt McCoy was told Thursday that the Browns would not take a QB in the first round. Don't know if you listen to Mike and Mike on ESPN in the mornings but Mike Greenberg for 3 hours said it looked like the Browns changed their entire direction of the organization in about 10 mins when they took another QB.
If you are implying that Brad McCoy couldn't have called some ESPN people and told them about the Browns conversation with Colt then you are naive. I don't know if that happened but simply asked the question. I hope I didn't harm that fantasy world you seem to live in..........
You and I have one thing in common. Neither one of us knows a damn thing about Brad McCoy. Just because you read something on the internet does not mean it is so, and it also doesn't mean that you can use those rumors as a foundation for posting further idle gossip about what he may have done if we just use our imaginations. Where I come from, that is character assassination.
52...........again read my posts (and other posters again) They are not "idle gossip".
Here is a nugget (chew on this between rides) Every time we saw Colt play there was a shot of Dad in the stands with most of those games on Saturday. Anybody who has played or coached HS football knows after the game on Friday the film is graded and then Saturday morning until about noon coaches meet with their players and watch the film. It would be physically impossible for Brad and his family to get to most places in time for an afternoon game. Some games on Saturday night maybe. In other words he didn't do his job for most of Colts 4 years at Texas.
Multiple reports say that both places he coached (while Colt was in college) were about to run him off. I do some business in the Abilene area and people 4-5 years ago said things about Brad McCoy............my first thoughts were it was sour grapes. There is simply too much smoke here not to be some fire. I would add as a lost thought that Connor Wood transfer had something to do with Brad McCoy's being at Texas practices.
Nobody is a bigger fan of Colt McCoy than I am.............I hope he has a great NFL career and given a chance in the right system he can and will. Its just time for Dad to get off the stage.
Back to the topic...the Packers deal is dead. They made a run, but it's dead. Texans are not lilkely either, though that would be great. Colt essentially makes the league minimum, so the Browns are not extremely motivated to trade him.
If Colt stays on the Browns, then I'm not writing him off as the starter.
The Browns may plan on starting Weeden right away, but I gotta like Colt taking/earning the job before the season starts or at some point during the season.
Just my opinion...
The bad thing is their draft was sh*t and they still have no offensive fire power around him. Even adding T richardson wont have much impact because defensive lines are still gonna live in that backfield that o-line sucks
If he's really had six concussions, playing backup may be whats best for him. His quality of life post-football needs to be a concern.
