I think most of us think that the Mack Brown era at Texas will or at least needs to come to an end. My question is what coaches on this staff would you want to keep? And maybe some ideas about replacements.
Wasn't Searels not very highly regarded by the Georgia faithful on top being Mack's like 4th choice? Considering how well the Oline has played the last two seasons, I'd say he's about as expendable as they come.
Yeah I was back and forth on him but look back to before he got here, he has made big improments, and OL is the slowest to show improvement. Should he stay maybe not but he is the type of coach you want coaching your OL a mean sob.
Major and Akina only, and only if the new guy wants them. Everyone else gone including Dodds
It's a fun game to play but a new head coach will likely clean house. Major and Wyatt are the only ones with hope. And it would be slim imo.
I am all for the flamethrower approach.
New coach = new staff
Thank you for your downvote. I'll wear it like a badge of honor.
What about Bennie Wylie?
Major, Wyatt and Bo are the only 3 I care to see here with a new staff.
I'd keep Bruce Chambers.. Done a good job improving the TE
I would keep
Diaz(Improvement in D in later part of season.)
Clean the whole house. They are all tainted
Any new coach at a major college is going to bring his own staff. That is a very common practice.
Is this a joke or are you on Bellmonts payroll
all of them need to go
Akina should go as well. The secondary has been awful this season, as not one guy can tackle consistently.
It's time for new blood and ideas.
Bennie and Major.
hopefully we can get phil bennett over from baylor, but it will definitely be a bidding war.
Major, Wylie and Harsin. The rest won't be missed.
You can't be serious about Diaz. He may be the worst DC we've ever had. We just got gashed again by TCU for the exact same reasons we've been gashed since the Wyoming game.
All this leap frogging around by the D linemen and mugging the linebackers is precisely why we lost the WV game, barely won the Baylor game, barely won the OSU game and struggled in the first half against TCU. Nearly all of the big runs against us were directly because of Manny. He is not fooling anybody. The backs just run through the holes that were vacated voluntarily.
The turnovers killed us against TCU, but Manny's defense was as big a factor in the loss as the turnovers were. He can't get fired quick enough. Manny is all hat and no cattle.
Chambers is doing a good job of recruiting, but he did a terrible job of developing players.
Our DT's are getting beat but that may be on the players. MB2 should be starting.
The only 2 I would keep are Major and Wyatt. As acclaimed as Akina is, he continues to play guys that aren't getting it done while sitting Josh Turner and Duke Thomas. Byndom and Phillips have been terrible all year except for a few good plays. Neither one tackles.
Akina needs to move one. The DB's at just about all of our conference opponents including Kansas and TCU make tackles. Ours don't.
Searels had a daunting task of building a decent line with only decent talent. But I think he is definitely replaceable. Wyatt is excellent and a great recruiter as is Major. I would love to see Harsin replace Peterson at Boise if he leaves and have Major bring some logic to the offensive game plan. Harsin is slow to adjust to counter what the D is doing. He also has not developed the QB position. There are numerous redshirt freshmen and sophs playing QB who look better than Ash.
Who has more pass rushers in the league than Oscar Giles??
Brenhams next star Darrion Johnson Class of 2014
you forgot this
at least i hope you did
Would anyone go with the Major as HC? Just asking.
Yes, I think he would be one of several good possibilities. Football coaching is not rocket science. Major has a lot of passion for the game and excellent football know-how.
Remember, Bob Stoops had no head coaching experience before he showed up at OU. OU AD Joe Castiglione was able to think outside the box. And the results have been devastating.
Stoops had lobbied for the Texas job the year before.

Devastating for Texas but Stoops is 11 years from a national title and that is what ou and Texas should measure success by.
As for Major, we will not hire an HC without HC experience imo.
I would love to give the job to Major, but readily admit that it has the chance to completely blow up in my face.
