I'm hearing some early buzz that the Cal job is one that Boise State head coach Chris Petersen could very well be interested in.
This impacts Texas if Petersen were to take the Cal job and Bryan Harsin were then to go back to Boise State as the Petersen's replacement.
Yep, Major as OC would be great and he'd take it over OC anywhere else. Don't want to lose Harsin though.
Harsin is a good QB coach which is a major reason i dont wanna lose him.
Hard to imagine Coach Peterson not taking a another job in the near future.
National Director of Scouting & Recruiting Analyst
I'm hoping USC and Oregon open as well, so he has plenty of options and doesn't get turned off by Cal and decide to stay in Boise.
Weren't you pretty vocal about Petersen not leaving Boise the past couple of months?
I'm not sure, but that doesn't sound like Gerry. He loves to stir the pot in regards to possible coaching hires.
Amazing how Peterson has Texas' future in his hands....
Petersen turned down (reportedly) $4 mil a year from UCLA before Jim Mora Jr took the job.
Why the change and Cal is hardly UCLA.
I'm fine with Major to OC, gives us a chance to bring in a full time TE coach (IMHO)
What's the 4-11 on Tim Brewster possibly returning?
Why would Peterson be interested in Cal? Not questioning it, just curious as to why Cal is a more entertaining option to Peterson than other positions he's been considered for, like Stanford.
Applewhite to OC... A good year and he's top candidate to replace Mack in 2014.
I'm starting to like this scenario. Major can take baby steps to the throne.
Eight or t years ago, there were a lot of people wanting Texas to fire Brown and hire Tedford. How the mighty has fallen.
Cal. is historically a second tier team in the PAC. I'm not certain why Peterson would be that interested.
First degree dead before it ever got started.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
No clue what that means.
did Tim leave on bad terms???
Other guy they wanted to Steve Spurrier, another disaster in the making.
Could you see him coaching up VY? Not.
A joke that didn't come off. I was inferring that that idea is DOA.
Brew comes off as auditioning for a HC slot every time I see him on tv. I don't see him dropping all the way back down to position coach. I remember he was a top flight recruiter. I can't really remember his actual coaching strengths though.
Never say never. Just before the season, Brew took the WR job at Mississippi State that had come open.

Well there you have it. Would we have to give him an associate head coach title or something to lure him here, and would a "retirement" have to be arranged for that current position coach?
Brewster is not coming back to Texas anytime soon. If ever. He has some issues off the field that make the admins nervous.
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasnt Cal already come out and said Tedford will be back?
yep people forget.
Tedford made $2.3M ...Which is about what Petersen makes at Boise, better cost of living and easier to be successful.
Tedford has been fired by Cal.
