In an ESPN interview with Paul Boyette, he says while he was at The Opening in Oregon, the Oregon coaches tried to talk to him. Am I wrong, I thought the recruits where off limits to the Oregon staff while up there. Probably a stupid question, but I had to ask.
Dude. That event is designed to help them recruit IMO
I don't even remember Boyette being there tbh
He's the only one coming in I'm not super stoked about.
I just don't see an elite player at the end of the day. Just my opinion.
They can't all be elite players. Only 2 DTs on the field, max, at a time. An elite team always needs some guys who can come in and do a solid job while the starters need a break/ get injured. I see Boyette as that type of player at this juncture, but you never know what'll happen once he comes in and has an offseason or two with Bennie and Bo. Sometimes guys may not have the ideal physical traits, but are still good football players. I can't wait to see who develops and pans out over the next few years.
I'm not discounting him as a good player at all. It was really a testament to every other player we got. I honestly think we got that many elite dudes.
Offers from FSU, ND, OU, and Bama. I think he could be a sleeper to be honest.
He's definitely an interesting prospect that's for sure.
i think the big sleeper in the 2012 class is Haasan Ridgeway and Adrian Colbert..
It will likely take him a little while to contribute, but he will have the chance to sit for the better part of the next two seasons most likely if he can RS this season. I picture him as our next true NT, if he comes in willing to put the work in to get stronger and bigger. If he is able to do that, then he doesn't need to be an elite difference maker, but he can be a very valuable role player.
IF that is his offer list, he does not qualify as a sleeper. But, I think our fans are not as familiar with him so we don't have the feel for his playing ability as others.
I really hate Oregon.
bama offered 24 defensive tackles last year. people need to stop including them in arguments like this.
And I'm sure all 24 were very good players that they wanted to get closer looks at. And maybe I'm thinking of somebody else, but wasn't Bo recruiting him for Bama?
An Alabama offer may not even be commitable even after you commit to them. They have signing day surprises in reverse.
exactly - that's why bama offers shouldn't be used as comparisons in cases like this. a bama offer isn't a real offer, it's more like a maybe. or a kinda. perhaps a sorta.
