Mods, any idea who is interested or have applied?
I'm a huge Kenny Perry fan.
Think it's a terrific hire by Gary Patterson.
National Director of Scouting & Recruiting Analyst
TCU virtually owns Arlington at this point.
If someone doesn't go after Joey McGuire for one of these type jobs, they aren't thinking correctly IMO. He would be sensational
Definitely agree with you there. Wonder if he applied or has been contacted?
He has a son in school right now, so that would likely play into any offer/opportunity he has. With that said, I would offer him the gig if I were any college in Texas.
thought he choked at the Masters and hasn't been heard of since.
Well...this is true too. lol
Great hire! Played for Coach Perry at Lamar back in the day. He can really connect with the kids and certainly knows the DFW area. He wasn't a bad halfback back in the day either.
sorry Gerry, couldn't help it. starting to get fired up for the golf season.
Love it. Golf season is on.
You may have missed it, but Rory McIroy withdrew an hour ago from Honda classic.
Was headed to a +9-10 on his front nine with 4-5 balls in the water.
Going to be an interesting year.
This new wave of hiring high school coaches into "development" positions on college staffs will get out of hand quickly. In essence, you're buying high school coaches in the expectation that they bring their top players with them.
It will only be a matter of time before a college staff hires the burgeoning private / "elite" 7-on-7 coaches with the expectation that they bring their top players with them. You could hire K.Simmons or B.Flenory today and get Ed Paris, Tony Brown, Nick Harvey, B.Simmons, J.Adams, etc in one swoop.
Great time to be a high school coach or a 7-on-7 coach.
I disagree with you in some ways.
I don't think every coach is hired with the purpose of getting one or two players. The well connected guys that are up and coming and on their way to the college level eventually now have an easier/quicker path IMO.
7-on-7 guys aren't getting these type of college jobs, ever.
Kenny's a good hire. Played safety at UH for Pardee.
