The recent performance of our major sports gives us a dose of humility. We needed it. We got a little too cocky with the persistent success our football, basketball and baseball teams .
Now as we bottom out and rise again, we will enjoy the climb back to the top even more.
What basketball success?
Yeah. Think Texas may have bottomed out in football already, but not so sure in baseball and basketball...? Appreciate the sentiments though OP. +1 for you.

Numerous sellouts in all 3 sports, even as ticket prices increased...Longhorn Foundation record donations year after year...record merch sales year after year...record revenue for all 3 sports allowing for renovations & coaching salary increases year after year
Pretty obvious the appreciation was there from the fan base & alumni...it was the coaches not appreciating the fans & figuring out how to keep the success going

Are you being retarded on purpose or because you are retarded?
I think basketball hits the all time low in the rick barnes' era this coming year. Augie is just getting started with mediocrity. Looks like mack might be on the way up, but he should have gotten us back this past year, but failed. All this could be avoided, but only DD can make that call. I would not mind rebuilding, if it would be with a new head coach in every sport. Going through it again with these threeold guys, not so much...
Why did the fans need a dose of humility?
Because of posts like yours.
Maybe you need to lose to appreciate winning. I've never found much use for losing personally.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
if you win all the time, it’s not good for the coaches or the kids. You’ve got to learn to appreciate it.
What was wrong with my post?
I cannot believe I would ever upvote a Sin Miedo post, but there it is. Congrats on paying more attention than many of our own fans, man. And good luck this season, btw.
Should we also think:
We needed Star Trek: The Motion Picture to suck royally to be able to appreciate the Wrath of Khan?
We needed Robert Browning to write some god awful plays to be able to appreciate his poetry?
We need periods of unemployment to be able to appreciate having a paycheck?
We need our children to come home with a few Fs to be able to appreciate them getting a good report card?
You serious OP? No way you are. We are Texas, not Baylor or some schools without potential. We have underachieved under Dodds so bad it should be a crime. No way we should be where we are. There are no excuses. It's pitiful.
Nothing personal, it just underscores my op.
Well that is exactly my thesis. Wee need to appreciate that we are Texas and enjoy the success because it is not always going to be there for whatever reason.
Maybe. Everything is relative. Evaluation is based on comparison.
When Texas missed an opportunity at a Big 12 South title by losing a close game in Lubbock during Mack Brown's first year, nobody complained much. After all, we had gone from winning 4 games to winning 10.
When a similar scenario unfolded a few years later, there was outrage.
Ha. Thanks. No worries, I'm sure I'll provide plenty of other opportunities to take it back with a down vote.
I tend not to be too sensitive or politically correct but every time I see/hear someone say retarded it makes me cringe a little. Only because a ex-gf of mine was a teacher of children with learning disabilities and I met just about everyone of the young elementary school kids she taught and learned a few things from these children as well.
One has nothing to do with the other.
Well you have certainly had the time to learn it. For us, it's a new deal.
Well, according to Dodds, he's working on providing you lots of time to adjust. Hang in there. He says you'll learn to appreciate it.
One question Jefe. You call yourself "fearless," can that be true? I can't imagine being an ag and not being afraid some "corp dude" was going to grab my sack or my ass; but that's just me. At ease.
